OT: World Politics

lol, now do us.

So 6-7-8% inflation was really 3-4% inflation the whole time and the media tried to convince us that high inflation was the poors fault for not be willing to starve to death during covid.

Eat.The.Wealthy.

If notoriously conservative and cautious pro-market instituions like the Fed and the IMF are on record saying corporate profits are driving inflation, then the C suites better wake up. I am certain Dark Brandon is getting briefed up on this land he’s looking for a campaign issue…

Holy shit it’s getting ugly. Full marks to Vlad Vexler, who said the war would increasingly be on Russian soil in 2023. He didn’t specifically identify all the belligerents.

I try to avoid posting the telegram rumours but they're all kind of pointing in the right direction today

- Russian telegram sources are basically admitting that they're in deep shit in Oleshky with big Ukie arty show going and Ukie's slowly ferrying across the Dnipro in small groups. Small Russian attempts to push them back into the river have failed (if rumours are true, 2 of them hilariously bad with russian positions mistaking each other for Ukies and opening fire on each other and a RUAF pilot accidentally bombing a Russian defensive position). The Ukies are still limited to armor with amphibious capability and sending small boats with limited amounts of troops and supplies across but this looks like it's happening.

- Klischiivka (small settlement on the heights guarding southern approach to Bakhmut) has allegedly been cleared or is near being cleared. Rumours disagree with the extent, but largely agree that the Russians are about to lose it

- Ukies have regained a toe hold in Bakhmut proper

- Russians appear to be doing the thing again where the abduct children from stolen territories they're concerned about losing, and send those children to be "adopted" in Russia. This time in Zap. So that's lining up with some of the takes I'm seeing that the lack of breakthrough progress in Zap is because the Ukies haven't thrown big weight at it and are choosing to slowly unwind Russian defenses there because of the amount of defensive mines the Russians have laid.

Kind of wonder if one of the big turning points in the Wagner rebellion was when the Russian MOD released those hostage-style videos of Surovikin and that one other Russian general pleading with Prigozhin to stand down.

Were both those guys in on the rebellion and key parts of the plan? And when Prigozhin saw that they’d been captured/arrested, he knew his putsch was fucked?

It sounds like the FSB caught wind of his plan and passed along the info to the MoD, which is why they fired some missiles at the Wagner camp he was at. I think the convoy to Moscow by way of Rostov was him playing what cards he had left in his hand to try to save his skin. He probably had this little move in his back pocket as a contingency plan, knowing that defences inside Russia were hilariously bad (as evidenced by recent border raids) and how little stomache for confronting Wagner the rank and file has.

ME i've heard some rumblings on reddit that Ukraine has made a lot of progress around Bakhmut.... any truth to that?

Seems like it, yeah. Haven't looked for updates today yet but as of yesterday they had Klischiivka cut off from its supply route to bakhmut and were a few Russian hard points away from forcing retreat or worse
