OT: WWE/MMA/Boxing Thread

Also think the old champ was overrated a bunch. Hated him being called GOAT. Beating a light heavyweight champ 2 out of 3 isn’t GOAT material.

I think Stipe has a very easy claim to being the best UFC heavyweight ever.

Overall MMA heavyweight, though? Nobody has anything close to what Fedor's done.

He smashed a lot of elite HW's in their prime though. I don't think Stipe is over rated in the least, best heavyweight of all time. Father time though >>

Jones is hard to call, no clue if he’ll have the ability to do 5 rounds and how quick he’ll be at heavyweight.

Francis continuing to work on cardio to be able to deal with Jones pressing more - that’s even more scary

fedor >>>

ufc bought pride - so see his time in pride counting :)

His QoC is about even with Stipe's in my books man with pretty similar achievements in there. I think Fedor benefitted from being incredibly well rounded in an era that just wasn't...but that's hardly his fault. Shit, he's a major reason that HW's started learning to grapple.

I don't know about this >>> stuff though.

Stipe should probably pack it in. He could easily keep fighting for a few more years, but I don't see a path to him beating Francis. Ride off into the sunset with an incredible legacy.

Annnnd, surprise surprise, Dana doesn't want to pay Jon Jones. The underpaid athlete asking for more money to fight the scariest motherfucker alive right now is just another way of saying he doesn't really want to fight.

Christ.

That’d be such a big fight. Jones has so many tools to use. I wonder how his cardio will hold up with all that weight. I don’t see anyone else being able to beat Ngannou at the moment.

I wouldn't write off Volkov or Gane. While I wouldn't favor either of them at the moment, with their reach & movement, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.

But give me Ngannou-Jones and pay those two.

Nobody is close to that version of Francis last night. Francis throwing leg kicks? Francis with the 265 pound hyper athletic sprawl takedown sprawl? Francis picking and choosing his spots to trade in the pocket and dictating place and pace?

Scary scary.

Jones looked beatable in his last few fights at light heavy, against guys who have been shown since to be good but just good. I think we finally get to see Jones laid out if this one happens.

and yeah, Dana is a fucking clown. This fight would make stupid money and he's going to nickle and dime his fighters over a couple of million. It would probably do something in the 1-1.3 million PPV buy range, damn near 100 million in PPV income alone. Or he can risk wasting it and send Volkov in there for 400-500K buys. Not a good chance Volkov, Lewis, or Gane beat him but then what the fuck is the point of having Jones at HW?

Just pay them Dana.

The UFC will cut off their nose, ears, eyelids, everything before they get leveraged by fighters. They've been this way forever because it's always worked. It's why we never got GSP-Khabib, why Fedor never came to the UFC in his prime, etc. The second any fighter has leverage, the UFC is real quick to move away from them until the fighters give in.

The WWE business model.

He's can't see beyond the size of the net return immediately in front of him.
