Patrik Laine

Doctor Laine.

So this may not be "good news" after all. He may need surgery but like a brain-dead anti-vaxxer, Laine "did his own research" and decided he only needed horse paste instead?
he got 2-3 opinions as to whether it was necessary or not, clearly at least one expert opined he did not need it ergo he's listening to the science.

If they thought the surrgery was really necessary, I think the team could "force" him to get it, I mean not physically in terms of strapping him down to a chair but they would hold it against him in ice time, contract negotations, etc. It looks like it's not an obvious decision and there's often unknowns that are the case with the human body, but they thought it was worth taking a risk to not miss the whole year.

The reverse eichel

He's the gadget player.

We just got through a discussion of Dach's effort level this season and Laine's has been worse. He's either the laziest person in the world or just dumb.

Actually, having dealt with addiction and patients and medications, Laine looks to be like a heavily medicated person by his demeanor and effort level. Sad to say but the signs are all there. We don't know what he may be on.

He could easily be both of those things at the same time.

I never watched him that closely before he became a Hab so I don't know but was his pace always this slow? Is it his injuries that have slowed him or was he just not particularly fast ever?

I'd move him to the 2nd PP unit too. I prefer having Cole set up at the hashmarks for that one-timer. All Laine knows to do is stand there and wait for the puck. Caufield will at least be creative and adlib if necessary.

Although he has 1/3 of all our PP goals this year, in 50 games.
