Pierre-Luc Dubois Thread

My concern isn't what we'll have to give up to get him. It's the contract he's going to get.

He's going to get 7-8 years @ $8M, similar to the Suzuki deal.

I don't think I can give a player who's quit on multiple teams that contract and even feel remotely good about it.
I don't want to pay 8 million for a 60 point winger.

Wingers are the easiest thing in the NHL to get.

I only have a small amount of interest in him as a centre.

My concern is also the contract. 8M is a bit rich, and honestly it's a bit rich for Suzuki right now as well. The length I care a bit less as long as he's moveable but the NTC/NTM might be problematic.

The question is WTF are the Habs a PLD away from ....... NOTHING

Plus a stupid contract on the books for a non difference maker
We're a better team with PLD, I don't think it's debatable. How many wins difference does he make? Point shares indicates that he's worth between 5 to 7 points per season.

Just a question worth asking - Are we sure Dubois isn't a quitter?

He's quit in Columbus, he seems to have quit in Winnipeg. Both times seem to have come when things weren't going his way.

Are you sure that's the kind of player you want to give a long-term, pricey contract to?
He does appear to exhibit James Harden type behaviour wherein once he decides he no longer wants to be on a team, he dogfucks until he gets what he wants. Part of my admires that kind of behaviour and another part hates it.

I watched every game.. some nights he looked like a stud.. other nights invisible like the rest of the team.. he does take some stupid penalties.. I do think he has upside .. when he plays his game he is a force..

PLD discussion starts at 6:54

The info without a doubt is being leaked by Chevaldayoff…. who’s playing the comms game. This isn’t coming from Dubois’ camp.

The fact remains that Habs are going to make an offer once the dust is settled. That’s a given. And that the Jets have no leverage. None. In ANY trade possibility with any team. There is not a scribe in this league, let alone a GM, that doesn’t know by now that Dubois wants out.
The Jets aren't getting Dach for PLD. They ain't getting much. First of all, we don't need him right now. We can wait for him to become a UFA and, if we decide we need him then, we can sign him without giving up assets. If Loserpeg wants to get anything for him they need to lower their expectations because even that Florida pick is off the table now. They get scraps and scrubs. Surplus assets, not anyone we actually want. They can take a 2nd rounder, Armia and Hoffman.

You would do so hoping that the one team he wouldn't quit on would be the Habs but then again we all hoped for that with Drouin and we all saw how well that panned out.

For franco fans, they are a PLD away from having a ti-gars who's jersey they can wear to replace the Drouin jersey they never wear anymore.
For anglo fans, they are a PLD away from having a new French whipping boy to replace Drouin.
