Geoff was far too busy getting into a Twitter war with the mayor. His only priority was trying to secure permission to increase capacity at the Bell Centre so he could gouge a few more customers on tickets and beer. We know only too well where his priorities lie and it isnt about winning Cups.

No we didn't. We got rope-a-doped. Tampa let us hang around and allowed us to delude ourselves into believing we could hang with them. Then they flipped the switch and crushed us.
The Habs of the late 70's used to do this routinely to lesser opponents. It's like watching a cat torture a wounded bird. All the Habs did last night was look busy but almost none of those 43 shots were dangerous and they got no second chance shots. They were only in the game until Tampa decided it was time for them to go.
They score 4 on Campbell, Fleury or Lehner last night. Vasy is the best goalie in the NHL.

I don’t recall one WOW save Vasilevsky has had to make - TBay’s D is also boxing out the front, which previous teams didn’t
First, they still score 4 on any of the other goalies I mentioned and second, Vasy makes most saves look easy. Yes, we need to get some better chances on him but he’s the best goalie in the world and is primarily why I was worried about this matchup. We do not have the goaltending edge in this series.

Vasilevsky is making the saves look easy, and Tampa is not allowing us time or space to hang around.
We didn't spend a whole lot of time in the offensive zones in the other series either, but generated mainly off the rush. They are not allowing a lot of that either.

Maybe we are like Dallas last year. A nice run, but it was obvious in the finals they had gone as far as they could go. Tampa looks like a team in the middle, not at the end, of a run. And yet they lost a bunch of games in these playoffs.

We had a couple of tips and deflections in the second that likely go in on a different nights. Vasi was also quick active with his stick to break some chances, he played an amazing game.

The Habs played well and could have won with some lucky bounces, but ultimately were beat at their own game (score first then rope-a-dope). Without commenting on roster and strategy changes, the one thing that could ultimately beat that team is to break them down physically, which we started to see in the 2nd. Hopefully it's not too late to win 4 of 5.
