If I read it right.
If Calgary finishes 11th last next year (where they are now) . We get the 11th pick.
 
I think we get the Florida pick (unless they slide lower than Flames in standings)

Suffice to say we’re not getting a top 5 pick
 
It's much, much more likely we're at the exact same spot next season than we are pushing for a playoff spot.

If we're looking like we're starting to turn the corner, then it's worth revisiting.

But if we still have no forward depth in Laval and we're still bad, what's the point? It's not like he's blocking someone the way Hoffman/Edmundsson were.

that may be buy are we not paying Hughes to get us out of it?

Anyone can sit back, make few moves, just finish low and draft high. This will be his fourth summer. He made a good trade for Dach. Mid for Newhook. Good for Monahan. Good for Petry. Other than that, not sure he has done much to make the team better.

Because he’ll be fucken terrible (worse than now), a veritable penalty machine, and drain the life out of the young core. Can’t have that. Some contracts end next year, and Petry comes if the books. I would at least consider it.

it's not that he isn't helping the team, he is actually hurting it. Martin's eye roll on the penalty last night said it all.
