Rumors: 2024-25 Season

I have no issue giving up thirds and fourths for a depth piece that contributes with limited term at the deadline if your contending

Contenders like TB gave up firsts for the Coleman and Goodrow types but won cups

I like Evans but sorry not the player I give 4 years and 3.5 -4 mil talked about here at this stage of our rebuild

I dont care about the cap or % and not overpaying for secondary pieces is a tool all regimes can use
So now you don't care about the cap. Oh right, it's Thursday.
I gave a concrete example last week how the Bruins spent 5mil and have the same production as our 4 players making 20 mil and they did it again the year before with JVR/Heinman/Geekie
Those same Bruins that'll miss a playoff spot doing exactly this? Cool cool.

Box score analysis when your bottom six is responsible for far more than points.
Other examples like Gaudette , McMann etc... that give you good secondary production on the cheap
I take Jake over both
We simply disagree on Jakes value , thats fine .
Oh we disagree on far more than that

So the guy that advocates against patching is advocating patching...

That tracks
What part of "won't cost term" are you struggling with? Evans doesn't just want more money, he wants term. Too much term is what turns an otherwise okay deal into a boat anchor. If you're going to commit to Evans long term it has to be cheaply otherwise he becomes an immovable object like Gallagher.

The whole point of "growing your own" bottom six guys like Evans is so that you don't have to pay them big money as free agent pickups. Evans, if the Habs are resigning him at all, needs to either be super cheap with term or slightly overpaid for no more than 2 or 3 years max. Any deal where he gets significantly more money and a term longer than 3 years is boat anchor territory.

Your definition of term. You'd have them sign week to week.

Who has said otherwise? Oh right, nobody.

Your opinion. You think you can insult players into signing cheaply and if not fuck off. That is one of the shittiest management styles ever. Players talk. You expect to sign good players by treating others like shit. These aren't widgets, they're people.

You and Geeman absolutely love arguing points that aren't even made by people. Straw man and the tin man.

Bingo , like I said its the one tool regimes have to their advantage

We have to pay Hutson a core player , cap control is the secondary stuff

Oh pleeeeeaaassssseeee

These are the contracts every team is trying to move every year because term or dollars was too much

Plenty of chatter all year about team X trying to move player Y but......cap is an issue

Kampf , Jarnkrok, Goodrow, and dozens others

These aren't widgets, they're people .......its a business that goes both ways

So go to those team boards and tell them a million times.

I would sign Jake at the right deal. Bird in the hand . He has proven his worth over the years, he is home grown (isn't that the point)), I would go 3 maybeeeeeeee 4 years which would put him at 31 to 32 years old (he will be 29 for next season) at the end of the contract. If the dollar amount is right I don't see the issue..

Agreed.

The fear is the habs will go 4 at too much money or 5 plus years

BS

Patching was giving Gally , Anderson and others 20 mil on a team going nowhere

Patching is caving into Dano for 6 years

Signing a vet for 2 years on the cheap who can do the same job to buy time is not patching
JFC you don't even know what a patch is
