Viola loved Huberdeau because he sold tickets which made Viola richer. If Huberdeau didn't help sell tickets Viola wouldn't love him.

It always eventually comes down to money with these guys. Let's not forget that Viola is a Trumper. He was Trump's nominee for Secretary of the Army and only withdrew because he didn't want to divest himself from his more lucrative private businesses. His first and only loyalty is to his personal bottom line. He loves Huberdeau about as much as Trump loves Melania.

I agree that Viola played no part in the decision aside from approving it. And he approved it because, in the end, it's about business for him. Huberdeau leaving town was a non-factor and not a deal-breaker because multi-billionaires like Viola only understand one kind of relationship: the transactional kind. He likes Huberdeau and he may even still want Huberdeau's sister to sing the anthems. But he doesn't like him enough to veto a trade made by a GM he himself hired. The business always comes first. Your mistake, despite your tenuous personal relationship with the man, was in assuming that Huberdeau wouldn't be traded because Viola loved him too much. I can assure you that Vinny Viola, like any Trump supporter, doesn't really love anyone except Vinny Viola. Every other relationship in his life (including the one he has with you, you who gives him your money) is transactional and impersonal.

Huberdeau was here over the weekend partying at Beach Club, so the rumors are really flying. Do the Panthers even have the cap room to sign him? The Panther's arena is 10x better than Centre Bell, better food, good parking, hotter chicks, 7% state tax, beaches, weather, palm trees. There are 2 billion more reasons to sign with Florida over Montreal, but we have way better poutine, the worst roads in north america and shitty socialists running things, so you never know.

He's a Flame now. Doesn't matter what the Panthers think. I also doubt he resigns here after the way this went down.

Also, I've decided to move to Vermont half the year. Florida isn't all that when you've been here 35 years
