I really see no upside to trading top veterans for youth while Therrien is coach.

I also don't see us getting back the best player in the deal.

Brad Boyes is someone (along with Tom Gilbert, who's looking a thousand times better than the Scottish Swede) who had to go a tryout with the Panthers before getting a contract. The same way Mason Raymond had to get a tryout with the Leafs before signing a contract. You'd be basically trading an asset because your pro scouting failed miserably.

Look at it this way,

Raymond + Gilbert + Boyes @ $2.9M combined.

or

Brière + Murray + Parros @ $6.436M combined.

I mean, really?

It's been a complete and utter failiure, again, by the pro scouting department.

Apparently the Hawks are looking for a 2nd line centre, Plek is a perfect fit, wonder what MB can pluck from them for Plek.

Pleks is as perfect a fit as it would get in Chicago for 2nd line role.

He would do well there behind Toews

Now what kind of deal would blow MB out of the water? how about Saad and Hjrmalsson for Pleks and .....

No way they give that much. I'd do that deal immediately.

Perhaps if you threw in Diaz you'd get that done. Saad is a nice piece but Pleks is worth more. Hjarmalsson is worth more than Diaz.

They don't have a ton of depth on their blueline. I really like Saad, I'm not a fan of trading Pleks but something like Pleks and Diaz for Saad and Shaw would be interesting.

No idea if either team would actually do that deal though.
 
I'm saying that it will ever happen.

If it did happen it really didn't and not happening, like it shouldn't, should be the reality of it happening... even when it doesn't.

No way they move both Saad and Shaw unless they are bolstering their lineup with a Markov type player and Pleks.

I personally believe Markov and Pleks is worth more than Saad and Shaw even though those two are promising young players.
