Summer 2015 Transfer Thread

Arsenal midfielder Gedion Zelalem is in Glasgow as he considers an offer to join Rangers on loan.

The 18-year-old, who has dual American and Germany nationality, is expected to hold talks later this week.

Amazing what having a competent manager can do.

Interesting that both Spurs and it seems Arsenal are willing to send their youngsters to Rangers for some seasoning. Warburton has the team playing great football and I guess there aren't many places an EPL side can send a kid to see how he reacts playing in front of 40,000+ fans.

Not like Chelsea use Vitesse though. They have 5 players there.

OK, can someone explain this? American defender Tim Ream has passed his physical and will move from Bolton to Fulham when his work permit issues are worked out. He's made over 100 appearances for Bolton and has played for them since 2012. Why is there still a permit issue?

I think ... THINK, mind you ... that foreign players have to renew their permits when they change situations. I seem to recall that has been a minor holdup in a couple of deals within the Scottish Premiere League. Pretty sure it's just a formality.

I know it was always an issue in football manager. I remember trying to resign Brad Guzan with Villa and being unable to get the work permit even though he had been with the team obviously.

That's correct, anytime a player either moves clubs or signs an extension they have to apply for their Work Permit again.

When a player joins a club on a 3 year deal he is given a 3 year work permit which is not transferable to another employer (ie club).

Bit of a surprise this one

I think Jose's just looking for a bit of a spark at this point. Willian hasn't exactly locked down that wing position with authority and Pedro is at least reliable as a probing possession guy down that side. Plus they keep him away from United. So ...

OK ... far be it from me to wish Rangers well :0) but here's hoping that they go ahead and play Zelalem as much as possible as soon as possible. The kids needs some live fire in the worst kind of way.

Well that was a waste of money, he has only been there 6 months.

They paid £23.3 million in February, signed him to a 4-1/2 year contract, got 13 appearances and no goals from him. But when you have Abramowich's money, you can make mistakes like that.
