For Team Canada, it's understood by all parties involved. You either win it all or you have failed, full stop. Won the silver? Who fucking cares. Won Bronze? Fuck you. You either win gold or you fail to win gold.
If these players want to play in the NHL they will need to learn that they aren't being paid to TRY to win and they aren't being paid to PLAY hockey. They are being paid to do a JOB and that job is to WIN. If they fail to do that, they wind up in the minors or pumping gas for a living back in East Bumblefuck Nowhere, to be forgotten forever.
