Except that tons of verifieds are bots, of course.

Interesting.
How does that work — people running bots are paying $100/yr for the privilege to spam?
Could get pricey if you’re running a serious bot farm.

Governments have deep pockets.

1 million usd for an information operation featuring 10,000 accounts isn't a crazy idea.

I can see election interference being worth the ROI but not sure about convincing people the earth is flat or George Soros is a pedo

I find it irritating and noisy — and it sure is grabbing a lot of headlines but is it actually paying off? Is the West really destabilising? Things are pretty much simultaneously as shitty and wonderful as I’ve ever seen.

A similar operation helped get trump elected...

And if he were to win in 2024, social media manipulation will play a significant role.

I'd say that was pretty destabilizing in the way Russia, Iran, Saudis, China, etc want

Also fwiw, a 50% reduction in advertisement revenue is about 2.5B. Debt servicing costs are another 1B

Twitter was revenue neutral before he took over, so they're about negative 3.5B annually and then adjust for employee cost savings (by having, like, 6 people left on the payroll) not paying for rent and severance packages, etc.

So twitter is probably losing roughly 2.8 billion a year with no path to profitability short of 28 million people joining twitter blue.
