Doesn't seem like his "Vegas tunnels" idea worked out either.

Maybe his stupidest idea.

And yes, including the whole twitter thing

What if we took subways...got rid of the tracks and replaced subway cars that hold 100s of people and replaced them with a tesla that holds 3....maybe one day 4 when we manage autonomous driving.

Its really when alarm bells should have started ringing with people on what kind of thinker this guy actually was.

3 month free trial offer for me, and the same cost as spotify after the trial ends....yeah, no brainer that I hadn't really thought about before.

its legit worth the price for no ads alone….it’s insane how bogged down YT is otherwise.

Plus as someone mentioned, being able to play lectures/docs etc in the background like a podcast? >>>>>>>

Then you get the absurd ad-on of music as the cherry on top.

I’d drop Netflix/D+/Crave before I’d ever drop YT Premium, now.

Let me know what you find different about it from Spotify. Im not a huge features guy on either so i don't really know how they differ.

Pretty sure the catalogues and algos are similar enough. Though you get the huge extra catalogue of youtube vids too.

Canada’s Rdio was by far the best music streaming app back in the day….their algorithm & social interface for sharing music with friends etc, was second to none. (Could basically see what the most popular music trends were amongst all your friends any given week/month……so having a bunch of friends who feverishly go through all the new albums every Tuesday, meant any gems that came along would rise to the top for me).

One of the big companies bought them out, and stupidly didn’t fold their features into their app….imo, anyone’s preference of Spotify/Amazon Music/YT Music just comes down to what they’re used to/comfortable with….cause none of them are ultimately all that special, in terms of UX imo.

I've been convinced to give YT Music a try. The interface is way worse than Spotify IMO (a pretty low bar) but for all the reasons listed above I think I may make the move permanent. I used a free too to move my curated playlists.

I like bundled services thrown in as a bonus....

If I had to pick between Amazon video and Netflix, I take Amazon simply because video was just a bonus, Prime shipping pays for itself multiple times over a year for me.

Same would apply here...youtube with no ads is beautiful, the music app thrown in is just bonus.

None of these standalone video or music services are worth it on their own merit imo. You need 100+ dollars worth of content subscriptions for it to be worth it overall, so we're back to where we were with cable, paying 150-200 a month to get access to all the stuff you want to see a few times a month.

Yeah, a person would be pretty damn fine if all they had was YT Premium and Amazon Prime…..and they’re only out of pocket ~$220 per year.

Then maybe for the holidays or something when you’re stuck inside for winter, buy Netflix for a month and binge it’s content, then D+ the next, and you really wouldn’t have missed much.

Churning through services is the way to go

Ie I’m waiting for season 2 of severance to buy Apple TV for a bit.

Deleted Netflix and Amazon Prime a while back (and every time I order something Amazon offers me Prime for a week for 99c, so sometimes I say yes)

I bought MUBI for two months because there was a bunch of art house movies I liked

Crave is my only constant because the HBO pipeline is nice and I got a whole year for $120 on Boxing Day
