I had Tik Tok for a few weeks a couple of years ago…. deleted it because I didn’t need another time waster.

I recently deleted Insta from my phone — was spending about an hour a day on it watching comedy clips. It’s crazy how little space my real friends occupy on my feed.

Every 3rd post is a “suggested for you”, and every other 3rd post is a straight up ad (often the same one you were uninterested the day before)

Anyway, I thought I’d really miss watching funny content multiple times a day, so I kept Insta on my desktop, but I only check it about once a week to see if anyone messaged me and now it feels like a chore.

As soon as I unmoored Insta from my phone, it looks like a shitty website playing tiny little videos

Yeah I’ve had a similar insta decoupling experience. Don’t really miss it much. Old grouch I am

Count me as a contrarian on this for now.

I think what we're going to see now is a bunch of people who don't understand what today's AI actually is (we're still not remotely close to AGI, what we have now are basically high powered sequence guessing machines that are slaves to it's scraped data set...this is why we can't build self driving cars that can make human like driving decisions but instead have chat bots that scrape the internet and become nazis unless specifically instructed not to be) and make a bunch of business decisions they don't understand because "AI is the future" and suffer horrendously for it until they're fired, the AI is unplugged and people go back to working for those businesses.

So yeah, the dam will burst and then it will stop bursting when companies realize how much of a clown fuck show they've created and billions in shareholder value is wiped out.

In the future we're all totally robot food, but I don't think we're months or years away from that. More like decades or more.

we aren’t remotely close to robot decision making but the idea that we are at peak ai is an idiotic take and the idea they ai in its current form isn’t making profound albeit incremental changes to how things get done, like word processing, the internet, ctl f, cell phones and email before it, is missing the mark.
