Tech Thread

TSLA is working on robots tho (cars plus more)

Moonshots are the bull case for that co.

They're not an industry leader in anything they do anymore other than vaporware. The stock price is supported by fanboys who don't understand that it's an EV company that is 2nd tier in everything else it does. It lags well behind Boston Dynamics, Toyota and basically everyone else serious in robotics. There's only so much benefit that access to obscene amounts of capital has.

Here's some quotes from experts in the robotics field taken after the Optimus proto type launch:

While Elon puts Tesla time and resources into being an also ran in numerous tech endeavours, he's cratering his core brand and getting passed in EV tech as well. The idea that one company was going to be the everything EV/Robotics/AI/SolarTech company was always, always insane. Instead we're going to get 2nd tier versions of the tech across the board, but with Elon's personal brand attached to it all. Jack of all trades, master of none.

I never said I was bullish…. And eventually it’ll be a great short (maybe sooner than later)

yeah Tesla cars and SpaceX rockets were legit way ahead of the curve.

I always thought Tesla was actually a battery company, and not they want to do robots.....but i don't think they're near cutting edge in either of those areas.

Tesla doesn't manufacture their own EV batteries. They manufacture the Teslawall battery, but it's still using cobalt and the design is old and inefficient at this point in the way it converts electricity back and forth from panels to storage, storage to usable.

Everything is 2nd tier now. He's even squandered his 1st mover advantage in EV's. Their model lineup hasn't gotten a refresh/redesign in how many years now while he was focused on making the cybercan?

i meant "now" they want to do robots, not "not". oops.

as for batteries i thought they were pushing for the House-powering battery but i guess that went nowhere.

the House-powering battery

That's the Teslawall I mentioned. Basically the last home power storage option using Lithium-Cobalt batteries and doing all sorts of inefficient AC/DC transfers. There are a dozen options on the market now able to provide more usable juice out of less battery capacity, without using Cobalt (toxic AF, environmentally shit to mine as well). Been researching this because wife and I are looking to start building a house shortly after we move and I want to be as self reliant as possible because Mexico has gotten better in some ways, but it's still Mexico. Looking at 2 enphase banks for power barring something coming out better between now and then, and one of Watergen's systems that creates drinking water from humidity.

yeah i have the same dream but.....battery tech is moving so fast that I would wait until the last second before deciding.
