The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Dude, **** off. Literally almost everything I say ends up being true, even when the precious nerd stats don't support me and every single poster is against me. If you're under the impression that you're funny, you're not, so just give it a rest.

Not sure how the cap would work, but Carolina still wants Kapanen. I don't know if there's a defenceman deal they would do now that they wouldn't last year, but I am wondering if we could get our 1st back somehow now that its value has dropped.

I was thinking along the same lines the other day, but when I went to have a look at their roster, I just couldn’t see a fit there.

There’s nothing on the Hurricanes (that they’d be willing to give up, at least) that I’d be willing to accept in return for Kapanen.

And if you shift into talking about a deal where Carolina gives us pure futures/picks in exchange for Kapanen, simply getting our first rounder back as a centerpiece of the deal wouldn’t be enough.

a deal that would hilariously make sense for both teams would be Kapanen for Carlo (BOS).

Our 1st would be my target if we are trading with carolina.

We are not getting hamilton for kappy and i would rather not commit to the others for a top pairing slot.

We have
Rielly-holl
Sandin-lilly
Dermott (rfa)

Would we really want to commit to pesce for the next 5 years (very good contract) to fill in the remaining RHD slot?

Our 1st would be my target with side pieces being bean and gauthier.

Would put Barrie on the market this year to trade. Would assume he’s worth a 1st +.

Rather AJ and/or Barrie to get what we need for a playoff run. Still think Kappy has potential to give up on him to crack top 6.

That’s assuming one of our Swedes is ready to crack the line up.

Found this little tidbit buried in Elliotte Friedman's latest 31 thoughts article:

12. I went to Game 7 of the Calder Cup Final in 2018 (Toronto beat Texas that night for the championship in a packed, crazed rink — was a fun night). During one of the intermissions, I ran into the great Rich Clune, who was not dressed for the game. He pointed to the person standing next to him and asked, “Have you ever met Jeremy Bracco?” I hadn’t. He said, “You’re going to see plenty of him.” Bracco only dressed for four games in that run, but finished second in the AHL in scoring last season and is fifth in assists this year.

His path to the Maple Leafs is blocked by some elite, elite skill and he wants to see if there’s a better opportunity somewhere else. Toronto is willing to accommodate, but have not been shy in their asks, apparently. I’m curious to see what the market is. I’m also curious to see if this could be part of a bigger deal. Ben Harpur and Dmytro Timashov have also asked Toronto to see what’s out there for them.

So if I'm reading this right, he's saying that Bracco, Harpur (lol) and Timashov have asked to be traded?

Drive Barrie to the airport if you get a first +

Rielly-Barrie is probably one of the best dpairs in hockey, btw.

I said if team thinks one of our Swedish kids are ready to jump. Guess should also note Dernott would need to be ready for top 4 role.

Muzzin-Reilly
Holl-Dernott
Swede-whoever

I have no doubt Harpur has asked out. He knows that he's never getting a sniff here, and there are still some organizations that believe in size, grit, etc as a way of life that he might catch on with as a 6/7.

Tima though is a 23 yr old 5th round pick who is getting regular reps in the NHL after being good but hardly a stud at the AHL level. It's possible he's asked out but that one seems really fucking unlikely. Bracco is a definite maybe. After looking like the top forward prospect in the organization not long ago, he's watched a bunch of AHL guys move up to play for the big club now. This definitely tells him that he's only getting a sniff if multiple high talent players go down at the same time. To break in he's going to need an organization that doesn't have Marner-Willy-Kappy type talent on his side of the ice.

I'm baffled as to why we'd want to be dumping Barrie in-season this year.

Someone who supports that idea feel free to enlighten me.

If we're going to trade Kapanen for future assets (which I'm not opposed to), I'd rather just get draft picks for our own amateur scouts to work with rather than pick up other teams' partially developed prospects.

Both because guys like Bean and Gauthier, for example, already come with years burned off their ELC's, and because both of those guys (and prospects their age or older in general) would either have to be protected or exposed in the expansion draft.

the tima part makes no sense.

the guy only got a chance because of his waiver status.

Yeah, that part confused me too. He should be thanking his lucky stars he's gotten in to as many NHL games as he has this year, and that he's been collecting an NHL paycheque all year. Because nothing he did in the AHL really screamed that this guy's an NHLer.

Bracco wanting out's a bit confusing too. Now that the Cock's gone, you'd think he might finally have a chance. Then again, it seems like Keefe's called up nearly half the Marlie roster at various points since taking over, but Bracco's never been one of the call-ups so far.

Thing about Bracco is, his advanced stats at 5 on 5 are dreadful. And Dubas/Keefe know this. He'll never get a sniff with the big club unless perhaps Marner and Willy are both hurt at once (he'd be the replacement on the right/left flank of PP1).

Get some GM on the bubble who is desperate for some offensive talent. CBJ seems like one, though Torts probably wouldn't be keen on Bracco. Dallas, Arizona, Calgary and NYI all could use some offensive talent too. I'm good with getting a first or second for him.

It is odd that Timashov has asked to be moved. He's been getting a shot here under two coaches. I'm not sure I believe that's true.

Yeah we could really load up a 1 asset (kappy or kerfoot or johnsson) + quantity (bracco/tima/moore/gauthier/brooks/marchment/petan) + contract ballast (ceci) and really make a big deadline splash for a dman.
