The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

And Burke saying this style of play is going to be fatal to us in the playoffs.

Man, they're harder on us when we're 13-4-1 than when we were on pace for 78 points.

Hey, its been a lotta fun lately, but the reffing has still been awful hockeylover. Nothing has changed there...

But there is still a great conspiracy out there, always will be. Subject: Jim Hughson/Joe Bowen.

The real fans know.

I have always loved Willy and I feel that this board was pretty much in the same. I don't recollect any Willy haters here offhand. Now that other board? Lol. Lots of hate over there.

Speaking of that other board and Nylander, we'll wait and be patient with this, but someone bump this one up near the end of the season...

Odog mocking nerds gloating over nylander today. Said he doesn't buy him being a great player because he's only been "good for two months."

But yeah he just screamed at nerds saying "but his underlying numbers are great!" when he wasn't producing as much. Pretty funny.

It's weird that he was one of the hardest media guys on Babcock while at the same time not really acknowledging the he might be holding certain guys back.

Burke gave credit to Nylander for playing well but also said he’s lazy and there are still times when you don’t notice him.

Keefe on Nylander after last night’s game:

“He just hasn’t had any lulls in his game,” said Keefe. “I think that’s been the nicest thing to see. He’s been on it every shift and it’s not just the offensive pieces, it’s winning puck battles and coming up with loose pucks all over the ice and keeping himself on offence and putting his linemates in good spots.”

Wish I knew advanced stats to see if there is more behind the eye test that he has been a pretty responsible defensive player for basically the entire year

Interesting note from the Keefe scrum: he was asked about scoring chance share in the Jets win and took us inside his process a little bit, immediately sourcing his own data

He scored it 17-14 Leafs.
@NatStatTrick had it 28-27 Leafs

“Scoring chances are a funny thing,” he said

Hutch starts tonight for the Leafs

I'm OK with this.

With the winning streak we've been on and the better position in the standings we find ourselves in now, I think it's safe to start easing off playing Freddie to death for fear of missing the playoffs. And Hutch has been fine in his last two starts.

I also like our chances against this team now that we can play to our strengths against them. The grind-it-out, low-event hockey Babcock wanted the Leafs to play always minimized our advantage and played right into the Islanders' hands.
