The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Fred has clearly been tiring after providing yeoman's service in helping to right the ship. He clearly needs rest, imo. The tiredness shows up in the easy goals he's let in -- mental fatigue, I'd say.
 
And there's a chance to get Fred some serious, serious rest this month. Enough rest to remove any excuses, at least.

I noticed that this morning. Went to check his Twitter since he was rambling on that Babcock wasn't the problem. Turns out he just stopped tweeting entirely. Naturally.

It's starting to get difficult for even the most cynical to be pessimistic about the leafs right now. Damian Cox throwing in the towel is a clear indication that something special is happening.

With that said, anything but a cup win and he'll be back spewing negativitiy.
 
I just find it odd someone could think coaching was no issue when they were coached the opposite of how they were built.
Cox after game 7 actually ripped into Leaf fans for saying Matthews should have played more. He thought there was no issue there. It's strange because in Matthews' rookie season Cox was saying what an amazing talent he was.
Guys like Panarin and Mackinnon were playing 24+ per night while our franchise star played 18 in game 7.

Just get ready for a "Matthews was burnt out" narrative on any leaf exit from the playoffs. He's just biding time, waiting for a little dip in play or maybe a playoff exit before he starts tweeting nonstop again. He's a predictable one.

Everyone tired. Oh and they can't win playing the Keefe system. Or something. He likely already has articles written, waiting to be deployed.


Btw he doesn't actually have opinions. He's a bitter angry old man that hates when people are happy or hopeful so he chooses to be a contrarian.
 
It’s really annoying too because however good this team plays you still only have a shot at the cup. It’s damn hard to win because you need some luck and you have to deal with even up style refereeing.

This is true although it does appear they will end up with a much more favourable 1st round matchup. That's huge.

That's kind of dumb. Remember that AJ was a world destroying Calder hero on the same team most of these guys we've fallen in love with were depth/secondary guys on. He's a lot better than Engvall, Tima, Goat, Brooks, etc. A lot.

Moore I'm a bit more ambivalent about, he's probably no more than a bottom 6 winger with some skill in the show, but AJ is a legit top 6 winger.

I rarely disagree with you. And you could be right. But what I don't like about Johnsson, is he is prone to falling. And he is a smurf.

And he is not all that fast.

I much prefer bigger guys, with superior speed. No question in my mind I want Engvall in before Johnsson.

I like big speed, big body, big stick.

Andreas has none of those qualities.

He is plucky, and tricky. Sure, tons of it. But I like how suddenly, we are filling the lineup with longer guys, Marincin, Marchment, Holl(debatable I know) Mikheyev.

To me, the first guy you trade on this team is Johnsson. He falls down as much as Domi ever did. He sucks defensively from my eye test, and he isn't fast.

Guy is a classic overachiever and THAT is the guy you trade as soon as he scores in a bunch. Get rid of smurfs, bring in the Engvalls, Mikheyev's, Korschov's etc..

Anyone on this board who has played organized high level hockey will tell you. Big men who can play and skate are horrible to play against. Smurfs?

SUre they burn you here and there, but they are not tough to play against.

I think Sheldon feels the same way I do, so its going to be very, very interesting to see what moves he makes when two very not needed players, are ready to play.

Moore is a damaged noodle now. We have to gracefully get away from him.

Johnsson should be displayed and traded.

In my opinion. I think that opinion of mine is shared by Dubas and Keefe. And these two are so close, its almost twins, that is how close these guys are.

All of the rest of that is cute and all, but it all starts with being able to play.

Let's wait until some of the oddities in Engvall's statistical profile (shooting % hovering around 20%, PDO of 106, etc) calm the fuck down before we go making proclamations that include wanting him over a Calder Cup MVP and rookie 20 goal scorer with pretty stellar analytics. Engvall is a nice player who does a lot of good out there, but whether he's more than a bottom 6 winger is still pretty up in the air.
