The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Exactly. His contract should be the same regardless of which team he plays for. Market value is market value. If we add Pietrangelo that doesn’t make Willy a $5m player.

What it shows is an underlying belief that you need to pay veteran depth to be good. You can't afford to "pay" your William Nylander's 7 million because you need to be able to pay your Colby Armstrongs and Mike Komisarek's 3-4 million. Replacing those guys with low salary players is proof that you don't have good depth, because draft and develop is hard.

Same...

- Komi was a buy out
- Grabovski was a buy out
- Phaneuf required us to take basically every dead nickel Ottawa had in shitty players at the time
- We're still paying the 1.2m on Kessel
- Was Finger Burkie or the silver pox?
- Colby was a buy out, wasn't he?
- Had to Robidas Island Lupul

Yeah, I can't think of one.

yeah pretty sure colby was a buyout. though finger was the old guy.

but seriously, EVERY SINGLE contract burke signed for us. every single one. and every day he's bleating in the media that dubas doesn't know contracts.

Fletcher was the one who fingered us. That's the one where senile Cliff famously (and allegedly) confused Finger with another defenseman on the Avs when he signed him. Though that other guy sucked balls too (Kurt Sauer).

You can also add John-Michael Liles to Burkie's list. Signed to a 4 year/$15.5M deal in 2012, and by 2014 he was buried with the Marlies.

Nonis ended up trading him to Carolina for Tim Gleason, who was signed to an almost identical deal. We then bought-out Gleason after he played one half season with us, and his buyout accounted for approximately $1.33M in dead cap space from 2014/15 through to 2017/18.

they're going to be so boggled when the Leafs buy another elite player this summer.

On one level it’s fun to get the Yankee type hate all to ourselves in the NHL, but it’s also really tiresome after all these decades of it. We don’t get to have home broadcasts called by homers like Bowen, and night and day we have to hear how bad and poorly managed we are. It’s to the point of fucking abuse. I’ve actually seen the trash talk from my Habs friends and acquaintances shoot up a level or two since Keefe took over, to the point of them being so obsessed to talk shit that it’s reached personal levels of attack (of course our rise coincides with their fall, so that’s been exacerbating things too).

Staggering, staggering failure with every single contract.

And he gets to go on air and rip dubas' contracts every single day.

Jesus, I’ve blocked so much shit out.

Fuck'em.

We are about to win multiple cups.

They can hang themselves with their hate takes if they want.

I love that he keeps using this argument, when all it does is directly prove that he doesn't and never did understand how to properly allocate capspace.

you'll love that he specifically mentioned "the Leafs haven't used the cap to their advantage" citing Nylander overpay as an example.

It's like people are living in some kind of alternate universe. baffling.
