I have a tough time taking most of these networks seriously when they add guys like Colaiacovo and Stewart to the panels for analysis.

It wont be long before Prust in on a show forcing his vendetta against Dubas and any other nerd who didnt play down peoples throats
 
i'm impressed you guys can stand listening to those guys. i'd have smashed my receiver to bits by now.
 
For me the frustration is that these guys could raise the level of discourse in terms of evaluating what's happening on the ice because of their platform...but they don't. Kind of like how I was hoping the Athletic might.

With Willy on pace for 35 goals/70 points, he should admit defeat already, or at least have the good sense to shut his yap.

Someone should point out to Burkie that there isn't a whole hell of a lot of difference between Nylander's performance prior to signing his deal, and Kessel prior to Burkie trading for...and them giving him a deal at 9.5% of the cap. Willy comes in at 8.8%

As for earning the contract after it was signed....

Age 23
Nylander: .42 gpg/.84ppg
Kessel: .39 gpg/ .79ppg

Nylander is also a significantly better possession player than Phil is and was.
 
He’d argue that he didn’t have several other players who are better that he’d have to sign afterwards. He always says Willy is like our 7th best player, and it’s almost like because we have Matthews, that just makes Willy’s value less somehow and we overpaid. Moron.

just mindboggling that a guy who the leafs literally had to buy out or retain on or eat money on in some way on EVERY SINGLE major contract he ever signed has the gall to keep ripping the leafs for their current contracts.

I definitely see the argument for putting Mo ahead of him. Injuries this year aside, dude was top 5 in Norris voting last year...and while I'd make similar Freddy arguments as you would, you'll never get agreement on them around this city.

But even then, we're talking 6th at worst.
 
Also being the 6th best player on a team with 5 guys who are legit among the top 5-10 at their position isn’t bad.

Just means the leafs are really good.

- Grabovski was a buy out
- Phaneuf required us to take basically every dead nickel Ottawa had in shitty players at the time
- We're still paying the 1.2m on Kessel
- Was Finger Burkie or the silver pox?
- Colby was a buy out, wasn't he?
- Had to Robidas Island Lupul

Yeah, I can't think of one.

Exactly. His contract should be the same regardless of which team he plays for. Market value is market value. If we add Pietrangelo that doesn’t make Willy a $5m player.
