The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

The goat needs to practice..... EVERYTHING.
He really shouldnt be on this team at all.

Funny thing is most people were pre-complaining that spezza was going to be Babs' nest toy replacing marleau.

Reality is spezza has been terrible the last couple years.

Just less terrible than Goat, no?

Honestly to me it's good. I really hoped we'd let shore have a chance to establish himself before hyman gets back.

That way when goat and tima likely struggle, we get to have a legit great 4th line of Moore-Shore-Spezza.

This is assuming that Mikhayev is better than Moore. He looked fine in preseason but I'm not holding my breath on that one. Moore is real fuckin good.

Fair enough. I love Moore.

Hell, make it this 4th line: Hyman-Shore-Spezza

Though you know what? I'm actually pulling for Freddy. If he keeps his motor up he could be a terror out there with his length, heft, and mobility combo. What he was doing in preseason was legit great possession stuff - both turning over the opposition and hounding them deep in the O zone. I kinda think playing wing might do wonders for him - it let's him loose to just roam around harassing the puck everywhere, and be first in down behind the other goal line. Probably a pipe dream but here's hoping.

Like I said, from a hockey pov I don't give a poop.

From management pov, however, this guy came here for league min for an end-of-career shot at the big prize in his home market. They've said they want to attract these kind of guys. Dubas was clearly happy about him doing this ... "perfect fit." Doesn't look too good when one them does this, plays well in preseason, but coach publicly expresses doubts about his commitment and then sits him against his longtime team in the home opener. Might not be so easy to get one of these vets down the road ... if Babcock is still here.

Just noticed that by dec7th the leafs are done with vegas, st.l and philadelphia

Typed this out and never hit post earlier...

It's one game. Not sure why all the hype. Yeah, it'd have been nice to see him out of the gate, but this is just a bottom line depth guy now. He really shouldn't be opening his mouth about anything. And maybe Babs doesn't want his first game to be a story against Ottawa, or he wants to motivate him to get him fired up for the next game. Who knows, but my point is, who cares either.

And frankly, I really like our bottom sixers. Mikheyev especially. I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic because I'll never forget the preseason where Stalberg looked like he was going to break out into an elite first liner and then crapped out.
