The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Anyway, that was fun to watch. ACC is the domination station until further notice.

Damn I was so annoyed Matty couldn't finish the hatty at the end there.

Tomorrow’s lineup changes:

Petan in for Timashov, Spezza in for Shore and Holl in for Marincin.

yeah Lilly down, Petan up.

capfriendly has really improved how they demonstrate the LTIR relief(s).

effectively now the leafs have $88,333 in capspace with a full 23-man roster. (I'm a bit surprised they're carrying 23, tbh - i figured that every penny would count this year, and there's no need to carry 3 extras really).

they also don't have to worry about any call-ups' potential bonuses, as they have Lilly's 400k in bonuses permanently in reserve now.

You can't accumulate cap space while in LTIR so there is no benefit to not using it.

Hopefully there's a regular rotation at the bottom of our lineup this year, and it's not these guys just going in because we're playing a back-to-back/3-games-in-four nights. Letting these guys rot until they're so rusty that they're useless to us is idiocy.

And hopefully Holl has a kick-ass game. God, do I ever hate Marincin.

My understanding is that when you're into LTIR, as the Leafs will be all season, you don't accrue saved cap space as the season goes on like you would normally. So going with a smaller roster now would be of no benefit to them cap-wise down the line.

I don't love Marincin either but I think Holl might be worse.

He very well might be.

After all, he is a guy in his late 20’s who’s barely played in the NHL, and barely played any competitive hockey at all last season.

But I’m willing to try literally anyone else in the organization (except maybe Ben Harpur) if there’s a slight possibility it might remove Marincin from the lineup going forward.

So just to get inside babs' head regarding Spezza-gate.. As I said earlier it's very likely he wants a rotation on the 4th line to get a look at everyone. Clearly Goat is probably a mainstay.

So Ottawa has a bunch of plugs.

But Columbus dresses skill for their 4th line. In Babs' mind, he believes dressing Petan and Spezza against Columbus makes more sense to match with their skilled fourth line. So if the plan was the play Goat, Shore, Tima in one game and Petan, Spezza and Goat in the 2nd game.. It does make sense that they put the latter against Columbus. I think this is what he is thinking and it would have created far less of a media and twitter meltdown if he said this instead of "Spezza needs to practice his penalty killing more."

Petan on any line is not good.
Absolutely no reason to put him in, or for him to be in the team.
Who is in net tonight?
Holl is a giant pylon.

So columbus has a skilled forth line .... their other 3 lines are shit.
This is a team that will be battling ottawa for the first overall pick.
