It's almost like having bad goaltending hurts your defensive numbers or something.

It's kind of fucking criminal that the Randy era, where we were legit very bad defensively, got the best run of team goaltending we've received in a couple of decades.

You,. Mindz, Beleafer, and a few select others, Habsy, should be so happy. I guess he is. He doesn't have many overhang ads any more. He knows he has the best boutique board in the world.

Congrats to Habsy and to you guys. Amazing board.

It's almost like goaltending is part of the fucking point here...

instead of plugs like marchment and korshkov, I was hoping they'd call up Brooks again. I liked what I saw from him.

Korshkov showed enough to get another game or two.

I like the idea of marchment but i havent liked the actual product. AHL marchment is a play driver who scores and is a major influence on the game. NHL marchment is slow, timid and out of his element at the moment. Maybe another year with barb and he can try and translate his game better but right now he isnt passable at the NHL level.

I dont see a guy who is going to have much of an impact period. Skating aside the the transition in pace hasnt been kind to him

If you dont have the wheels to keep up you better have the IQ to make plays help make up for it. Unfortunately I dont see it with him

Yeah, he was definitely slow footed. He looks like a good natural finisher (also gauging from his AHL highlight reel, he scores a lot of "goal scorers" goals), so maybe there is some hope there. But he definitely looks like he needs more time with Barb (pbuh)

Since the break:

Hyman-Matthews-Marner: 49.5cf%, 49.5xgf%, 44.2gf% <---- uh oh
Nylander-Matthews-Marner: 56.3cf%, 52.4xgf%, ---gf%

Just not good enough from that combo.

Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander: 59.8cf%, 60.9xgf%, 85.2gf% <--- very good
Kerfoot-Tavares-Hyman: 50.3cf%, 46.8xgf%, 41.7gf%

Despite the heat, Kerfoot is indeed a very nice fit on this line.

Johnsson-Engvall-Kapanen: 48.3cf%, 57.9xgf%, 53.8gf%
Engvall-Spezza-Kapanen: 64.3cf%, 75.0xgf%, ---gf%
Johnsson-Engvall-Spezza: 77.8cf%, 66.4xgf%, --gf%
Johnsson-Spezza-Kapanen: 79.2cf%, 72.0xgf%, 100.0gf%

All combos of these guys has been good as a 3rd line. With Johnsson out, I would just go with Engvall-Spezza-Kappy and stop using Engvall on the 4th line.

And then the 4th line is clifford plus a couple call ups and play them as little as possible for now.

I was actually going to suggest splitting up the top line but looking at how well the 2nd line and 3rd line have been going I think I'd tend to wait it out, with the only change being Engvall and Spezza both on the 3rd line instead of split between the 3rd and 4th, and then just giving the new 3rd line much more ice time at the expense of the 4th line.

Muzzin-Holl 51.4cf%, 57.1xgf%, 36.9gf%

Unlucky on the goals front but overall playing great as the top pair.

Dermott-Barrie: 48.5cf%, 46.0xgf%, 57.0gf%

Lucky on the goals front but really this pair doesn't seem to be working very well as the 2and pair.

Sandin-Barrie 49.5cf%, 46.7xgf%, 00.0gf%

Not any better, unfortunately.

Sandin-Liljegren: 51.4cf%, 36.4xgf%, 00.0gf%
Dermott-Liljegren: 39.3cf%, 46.3xgf%, 51.1gf%

The kids haven't been getting it done as a bottom pair, either.

Lesser used pairs:

Marincin-Barrie: 78.7cf%, 87.7xgf%, ----gf%
Sandin-Dermott: 62.6cf%, 77.0xgf%, 100.0gf%

Interesting. Bring back Marincin?

With Marincin Playing: 105pt pace
