The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Have been active all year buttercup. You just see what you want to see. And I don't give a **** about them being in a playoff spot. They lost to a zamboni driver. Who cares if they sneak in to 3rd and get swept?

It really doesn't matter to you what people say where the leafs are concerned does it? All logic out the window to feed your passion?

This is kind of where I'm at. I wouldn't do anything too rash but this team hasn't shown enough to be true buyers. If there's a deal for D with some term, cool, but no picks for rentals.
I agree with one caveat. If they can get a 1st rounder for Barrie they should do it to at least lessen the blow of losing their #10-15 pick to Carolina. I don't think he'd be a significant loss either.

But if the offers are late 2nd rounders or worse then yeah just keep him.

With Ceci and Rielly out is it really smart to move Barrie though?

I'm okay with that too.

What logic?

What kind of logic dictates that this team is anything more than it has shown itself to be? Again, last night was the icing on the cake but no where near the only embarrassing moment for this club.

As a gm ask yourself if this team can realistically beat the best two teams in the NHL in back to back 7 game series. If the answer is no, take the 1st rounder.

The "trade everyone immediately" take seems like a really good way to get completely bent over in a trade and watch for years as our big guys score 100 points somewhere else year after year.

Nobody said to trade everybody immediately. And nobody said to get "bent over in a trade". I don't even mind if they do nothing at the deadline. But at the end of the day this core does not work. It's well documented at this point. I would replace the GM first to ensure whoever makes these important deals doesn't get bent over as Dubas has shown himself to be pretty mediocre as a GM. And after that you make smart hockey deals. You don't give people away. Because of the offensive shine and media attention our big guys would fetch very nice returns.

This is what the baby feels when you are ready to throw them out with the bathwater...

I swear to you all, drop Barrie for zero return and we will magically improve in a significant way. Stuff Clifford in the press box and we’ll be that much better. Stick Spezza on the fourth line and leave him there with Goat and Tima. Three small tweaks with massive returns. Just fucking do it and watch.

Progress I suppose.

I mean probably not, but weird things happen in the playoffs. Just get in and if healthy, they might be able to beat Boston. At least we have an alternative in goal?

The smartest fucking move we can make. People look at his shitty assists and think he’s doing something. Anyone can just fire away at the net from the point, but they won’t be absolute trash the entire game while doing it. This guy has killed us.

Then ask yourself this: Would Tyson Barrie be the difference in the series?

I don't know... I don't hate the idea of damage control this year. Kerfoot and a 1st for Kadri seems like a pretty good trade to me. The issue is I'm not sure anyone will offer a 1st for him. But if they do I take it and run.

There have been many, many top teams to fall in the playoffs to mediocre teams. Almost yearly. See: Lightning last year. It's what GM's bank on, just get in. The playoffs are a war of attrition and the top teams tend to have much better depth, that said injuries do happen, teams get hot, goalies get hot. This defeatist crap is tiring.

Most teams would swap rosters with the Leafs. Think about that.

"Trade everyone of significance" is absolutely going to lead to getting bent over in a trade.

I don't know the stats but couldn't Barrie just be misused or overused due to the injury to Rielly? I get one is LD and the other RD but TOI and QualCom matter no?

Agree to disagree. And some of these guys leaving could have an addition by subtraction kind of vibe to it.

Again, what do you propose? Tinker with the bottom lines? That's going to make a difference?
