The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

I mean probably not, but weird things happen in the playoffs. Just get in and if healthy, they might be able to beat Boston. At least we have an alternative in goal?

With a full healthy lineup they compete. Andersen returning to normal levels is a must though and im not confident happens this year for him

Some of the takes on losing to a Zamboni driver are in fact worse than losing to a Zamboni driver.

I too think the Leafs have a limited ceiling ( first round exit to a top 3 team) and should consider selling rentals ( barrie, clifford) for the right price but blow it up? Yikrs

For the record I still think they should look at trading mucho this summer as long as they get the right offer. Blowing it up is a bit extreme though obviously. 2005 is being a bigger drama queen than necessary. I thought I was bad... Yikes.

Agree to disagree. And some of these guys leaving could have an addition by subtraction kind of vibe to it.

Again, what do you propose? Tinker with the bottom lines? That's going to make a difference?

I'm not against making changes. I'm against "trade everyone of significance!" which makes one sound hysterical and illogical.

Last night was a disaster. But his could also be the ultimate wake-up call for them and they go on a hot streak,.
NHL is not that predictable. They can take Boston. Tampa worries me much more.

I thought they looked like total shit in the last half of last season but I was pretty impressed with them in the playoffs vs Boston.

I'm open to this but man would I ever be picky about a return here.
Oh no doubt. It's a franchise-altering trade. I trust that an analytics based team could find an offer that exceeds marners value though. 25 teams at minimum will have interest.

I love his stats but spending 10.9 on a guy that isn't a possession or line driver can be a serious issue. Love the player, I just don't like the value he provides on that contract. I think his raw production may give him more trade value than he is actually worth. That's my only reason for wanting to look at moving him

At this point wanting to keep this core around sounds more illogical and hysterical to me. Saying things with a calm voice doesn't lessen the hysteria.

Marner and Tavares is where I would start. Would probably move Nylander as well. Barrie and Anderson shot out of a cannon would also help. Keep Matthews with the caveat that maybe a less gutless supporting cast will salvage his legacy.

We will be as good as the goalie, even with the disaster of last night. I’d be desperate to trade the captain if possible thouh

I don't know the stats but couldn't Barrie just be misused or overused due to the injury to Rielly? I get one is LD and the other RD but TOI and QualCom matter no?

He is fucking atrocious. If someone will give us a 1st and we don’t take it, we’re fucking stupid.

Yeah im here. Consider moving Mitch but be serebral about it don't throw him on the wire

I would think that doesn't need to be said. When I say "look to trade a player" I'm saying it under the assumption that a team will offer a package that provides more value than mucho. Maybe I'm wrong about that but it's something you have to explore.

As much as last night was an embarrassment, ultimately this team is young and still figuring out how to win in the NHL. Everyone will hate this take but this group needs time. This season may end outside the playoffs or with a 1st round exit, but either way nothing drastic needs to change. The defense needs some changes, the forward group should be fine but maybe they do need a more defensive or physical presence, and the goaltending desperately needs to improve, whether that's Campbell, Andersen or anyone else.

Trading any of the forward core is insane, we got lucky to even have players this skilled, we trade them and we are far more likely to be a shit team for 10 years then anything else.

You want to trade Marner, Nylander, Tavares, Barrie and Andersen and fire the GM and I'm the hysterical one?

Yeah, we're not going to agree. No point going around in circles.
