The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Thing is, analytics support the lhd-rhd thing. Dubas himself said his #1 target has been a rhd basically all season and especially approaching the deadline. He values it, but of course he won't overpay for it either.

Also it doesn't matter. Sports aren't coming back ever.

All of you are invited to my place for beers and to watch the Leafs on Canada Day.

Within 1-2 weeks we will hear an announcement.

I doubt they'll announce that the season will begin on Canada 2022 in 1-2 weeks. Seems a little premature.

The NHL has canceled seasons before for stupider reasons. They may plan a return and hey, may even try it. But if that happens, eventually someone will test positive and the league will shut down immediately. There's just no way around it unless they come up with an ultra creative plan that I haven't heard yet.

I think though they cancelled for $ reasons in regards to the 2004-05 season to get a cap. Returning would be purely for financial reasons, as was the cancelled season.

If nothing is announced by mid way in the month, then I am wrong. But imo, we'll hear something soon and I don't even care about hockey at this point. I just think the $ is too tempting. (There will be 0 fans of course and 1-4 cities hosting and that's it).

But they survived the 2004-05 season despite missing out on an entire year of revenue. They're not going to risk the health of the players and the general public over this. They'll want to. They'll be tempted to. But there's just no reasonably safe way to do it. I'd love to be wrong. I really hope they can figure something out.. But unless we adopt the South Korea formula of testing and proactive prevention of outbreaks, it just won't happen. We are a very very long way to get to their level and they JUST started a return to sports. Meanwhile the US is breaking records daily and reopening states at the same time.

Mikheyev - Matthews - Nylander
Hyman - Tavares - Marner
Johnsson - Kerfoot - Kapanen
Robertson - Engvall - Spezza/Goat
Barabanov

Muzzin - Rielly
Dermott - Holl
Sandin - Lehtonen
Marincin

Andersen
Campbell

Still leaves open a Dermott/Johnsson for a $5-6m type RHD kind of package.
That would fit in under what was the expected cap, so will probably still fit in under whatever pro-rated cap they come up with.

Then what happens with Lilly?

Well, he could easily turn the switch next year but if he plays like he did this year I don't think we should be relying on him to fill a spot.

His production last year converts to a 52 point NHLe.

For reference, Mikheyev's NHLe in his last year in the KHL was 48 points. And this year he played at ... a 48 point pace.

Yeah I mean.. This guy seems legitimately really really really good. I'd be more excited if we weren't in the middle of a pandemic, but he is quite clearly potentially a legit top 4 d. Seems to be in the mold of a Torey Krug type.

PP time is such a big thing that those NHLE's don't make much sense to me.

Mikheyev played at a 48pt pace with zero PP time.
