The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Injury would have to be substantial if they are replacing him? Doesnt removing him from the roster make him ineligable for the entire playoffs?

I don’t think so, no. Andreas Johnson’s not on the roster either due to his knee injury, but the team mentioned he could be ready for later in the playoffs.

Also Hollowell has gone on and off and on the roster again since it was announced. I think its just that you cant' have more than that amount of players participating at any given time. But Lilly was already eligible for the playoffs by playing in the AHL/NHL this year.

also if you think about it the quarantine rule wouldn't make any sense if a player couldn't return to the list. they'd simply be eliminated from being able to play this year.

Its gonna be cool to see us having two intact top lines for the first time....ever?

Last year the Tavares line was awesome, but Willy's awful abbreviated year really stopped the Matthews line from doing what it was supposed to do. Johnsson-Maathews-Kappy was good but not the dominant line we really wanted.

And then this year, the injuries to tavares marner hyman and mikheyev have stopped us from ever seeing this top 6 in action. AJ Kerf and Kappy were all ok fill ins up there but never really took off.

With Willy and Mikheyev full time in the top 6 now for the first time, we may finally have the dominant two-elite-1st-lines setup we imagined when we first signed tavares. I still think tavares-marner would benefit more from hyman's skillset than matthews-willy, but mikheyev is pretty great in his own right so it probably doesn't matter all that much.

And then of course the stats say that it in its brief time together, engvall-kerf-kappy was a pretty great 3rd line so it'll be nice not to need any of them to fill in a top line spot anymore and just try to thrive as a 3rd line.

Add that to us having a go-to matchup pairing in Muzz-Holl for the first time in...decades? Which also let's rielly and ceci face the easiest matchups they've faced since they were rookies, and we're looking way better on paper than we ever have before.

Robertson in would be huge. Would be interesting to see the 2nd PP unit.

Hyman
Spezza-Mikheyev-Robertson
Rielly
Maybe no room at all for Kappy and Kerf, both of whom have been unable to produce on the PP?

Of course, they seem to want him back on the first pp ... which is just a bit maddening. So many blocked muffins. Get Rielly -- who looks really good in scrimmage -- out with the first group.

Honestly top to bottom we are a top 2-3 team in hockey in terms of raw talent. Up and down the line-up, in all facets.

Just have to fulfill the potential.

48pt pace with 3rd line minutes and not one second on the PP - and without a high sh% or oish%, either.

Keeping Barrie away from tough comp is critical. He might just flourish with Dermott against the weaker opponents.

273 mins together
51.34 xGF%
51.00 SCF%
52.94 HDCF%

5v5 adjusted

Muzzin-Holl 57.9xgf%
Rielly-Ceci 50.0xgf%
Dermott-Barrie 53.4xgf%

And most all of that Rielly-Ceci time came against elite comp, which they won't face anymore.

And even most of those Dermott-Barrie minutes came with Rielly, Muzzij, and Ceci out of the lineup forcing them to play more of a strong 2nd pair type role.
