And Babcock played Komarov, Hyman, and Marleau ahead of Willy on the PP.

Apologies for smudging this thread.

um, doesn't seem to fair to stack that Matthews team like that. Sets up a big opportunity for Nick Robertson though. Also gets those top two pairs dealing with serious competition.
Good article by Masters on what Keefe is trying to accomplish at the training camp:

Defence and more defence Keefe's main focus in camp - TSN.ca
Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said his team's goals against per game dipped to 3.04 - 17th in the league - after 47 games behind the bench in 2019-20 but there's still plenty of room for improvement, Mark Masters reports from Day 2 of training camp.www.tsn.ca
He'll become a god for the old timers if he can get them playing a strong defensive game.
Leafs were 19th in xGA after Keefe took over (adjusted). I quite like that Keefe points to the forwards when talking about improving the defensive game. They have been, for sure, the #1 culprits in poor defensive play.
Under Keefe....
Naturalstatrick has their xga at:
5v5: 14th (adjusted)
EV: 12th (unadjusted)
All: 10th (unadjusted)
And that carried over in both the hot first ~23 games under keefe and the last cold/injured ~23 games. (The cold stretch at the end there was actually an offensive shortage mostly).
Funny, when I did this it didn't take the dates. Going from Nov 20 onward, adjusted, I get 15th xGA.
Whatever the case, it needs to improve.
They were 10th before Rielly got hurt.
Whatever you think of the guy, this is definitely the end of an era. Been around the team for my entire life, I think.
He's lucky to have been around that long. he was always dull as ****. Great timing he had I guess.
