The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Judging from the twitter reaction everyone loved him.

He was just a vanilla Leafs propaganda guy, but he's been covering the Leafs my whole life. He's an institution.

He was also famous for his twitter shade against moronic boomer Leafs fans. I seem to recall him completely destroying Nylander bashers in the most Henny way possible. I'll miss him.

I'm going to guess that he's been enjoying the time off at home, and will retire from television.

So NHL teams whined that Leafs paid to have refs at their practices. There was no rule against it.

If the issue is that the league doesn't want additional people let into the Leafs' bubble/into close proximity with the players, then fine.

But if the issue is whining from broke-ass teams that can't afford to do the same thing, then fuck off.

The league already does enough with the salary cap and revenue-sharing to cater to and artificially level the playing field between the successful franchises and the ones that exist solely because of league welfare payments generated by teams like the Leafs.

I agree. Health issue is ok. teams that probably are collecting revenue sharing can fuck off.

They will probably announce tomorrow that they have hired additional "assistant coaches" who are all former officials

Matthews nominated for the Byng and twitter is up in arms.

What he did was stupid but if we start using off ice actions as criteria for on ice awards then 90% of the league would be disqualified

He was just dumb enough to get caught

"NHL wasn't comfortable exposing the players and officials to one another."
It seems unlikely the NHL is not comfortable with the situation because of the two reasons mentioned above.

I would think this has to do with avoiding any type of situation where the Leafs players would have access to the referees who are going to officiate in the Stanley Cup playoffs prior to the start of the offseason. The Leafs could possibly gain advantages by learning habits of the referees in terms of how specifically the games are going to be called in the playoffs. More importantly, there could be suspicion of preferential treatment due to collusion after the referees spent training camp with the players.

It doesn't feel right if the Leafs are practicing with the referee who is going to officiate most of their play-in series against the Jackets.

If Toronto were hiring AHL referees, that would be a whole different thing and nobody would mind.

Who would be in charge of keeping track of the off ice scoring stats? WTF is an assist off the ice or a secondary assist
