It's possible they agreed to the deals before the expansion lists were announced - had Vegas not agreed to them, then maybe they end up doing a different deal with someone else instead.
 
so first round trade tally is that they added wpg and isles firsts? is that it?

seconds from isles, cbj, tbay and pitts?

add in terms of prospects, haula, gusev, theodore

then a smattering of 3, 4, 5th rounders?

Fleury is still a pretty solid goalie, and only signed for a couple more seasons. But he's also not good enough to really prevent them from getting a top pick the next couple years either. But yeah, you'd think it should still be a pick a little sooner than what they got.

How would Vegas be better off not having Dumba and Manson on the back end?

Even if they don't want them long term, other teams should have eventually ponied up large for them. And I'd think they would have now too, so I don't get what's going on here.

It really is almost like they made the deals in advance of the lists, but that'd be weapons grade stupid.
 
Shea Theodore is a nice prospect, and will probably be a good NHL defenseman.

But I feel like if Vegas had just put Vatanen or Manson out on the open market, they could have got a better return than that.
 
I think Vegas did well with Anaheim... I'm a little underwhelmed on the Minny deal though. Tuch is a nice prospect and Haula is serviceable... but I definitely prefer Dumba.
 
You'd have to think the protected lists were discussed beforehand. The Wild would have protected Dumba if they weren't able to get an agreement done with LV.
