yeah...the presenters were even worse. They should just let Norm MacDonald and PK Subban do everything.
 
yeah, he's better defensively at least. I look at it as can you flip JVR for a D then grab Neal for pick and prospect and come out ahead?
 
Had Vegas not cut deals with Anaheim and minny, they wouldn't have exposed dumba or Manson. There was no opportunity lost today.
 
So they'd have exposed better players than Dumba and Manson?

Certainly wouldn't have been worse players or they'd have protected these two.

You're right on the surface... However, if no previous deal was struck, Minny/ducks could have made room by making a trade with another team last week (ie trade a player for a pick like Habs did with Beaulieu/Sabres)
 
But then they'd still lose someone good.

You can't trade away every exposed player. If they dealt Dumba, they'd have lost Staal. They wouldn't have just gutted their roster for Vegas not to get anyone good.

That was the hammer Vegas held over them, and if they weren't going to touch any of these guys, they should've extracted more of a return.

I feel for the guy and his wife. That's a tough situation... but that award is always given to a player who personally went through an illness or injury.

I made this point a few months ago on another blog.

By definition, the award goes to the player that showed "perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey".

Taking two months off to be with your family seems not to fit that criteria to me.
 
Yeah I don't get the Minnesota trade. Anaheim makes sense. They get a 21 year old, blue chip prospect, defenseman that is already a proven NHLer. Wouldn't have made any sense for Vegas to turn that down, and I'm not sure how the Leafs beat that offer.

But even for Dumba, they got a young 3rd line center and a recent 1st round pick. We likely would have had to throw one of Kapanen or Brown in the mix to get in the game.

And maybe the Leafs target was Miller or Methot anyway.
