The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

It might be my eyes to be fair but I feel like Gio has taken a significant step back this year. It could be that when Holl was struggling more I also noticed that but I haven’t noticed that much good from him.

He looks pretty much the exact same to me.

But yeah, the shine has come off Keefe for me.

We can say it's the players this year, but what about the other years? He hasn't been able to get the most out of what he has in any year so far.

Regular season wins are nice, but who gives a shit in the spring.

Main benefit of a new coach would be to see if someone else can get the leadership group to step up at crunch time.

teams have definitely picked up on the forward up high / every d-man cheating thing, which has been a hallmark of keefe's teams here when they're playing well.

but this isn't the first time that's happened since keefe started. he's been able to figure out a way around it in the past.

i do think he's been sabotaged by the left side. bunting and kerfoot have been invisible, and you can't be given all of the ice and space you get playing with 34/16/88/91. it's unacceptable. and the giraffe swede has been terrible this year. nerdies will look good because he's a menace defensively, but he has had all sorts of trouble handling the puck. last year those three combined for 51 g and 98 a; this year they're on pace to combine for 31 and 55. just an enormous drop in productivity from guys who are being counted on to be productive.

Was one of the reasons I wanted to see Keefe be patient with Robertson to see if he's ready sooner rather than later. They may as well just send him down at this point. Playing him 8-9 minutes a game, gluing him to the bench every time he has a bad shift and then sending him to the press box after gluing him to the bench. Doesn't do him any good at all. Play him or send him down, why do coaches do this shit to young players over and over and over because it's too risky but will happily let anyone with 500 games played in the league cost them their job?

ZAR has been pretty shit (45% xG) but gud pro, knows where to stand, so he plays. Jarnkrok has been fucking unplayable (39.6% xG)...but gud pro, knows where to stand...so he plays. Robertson has not been good either (47.5% xG) but has matched Jarnkrok's offensive output in 8 less games. Can't be patient with his rookie fumblefuckery for reasons though.

If Robertson isn't the answer (how the fuck would we know?) then Keefe better hope that the 3 you mentioned pulled their heads out of their asses because yeah, the left side is a train wreck right now.

I think the "start" is also contributing to Robertson's short leash. If the team was winning with him on the ice even with his occasional warts I'm sure he'd have a longer leash - but Keefe needs wins to keep his job.

Yep, but the mistake is in thinking that he's more likely to win with jarnkroks and ZARs

It's super weird though, the top teams are still putting up normal top team numbers. So good goaltending has become more important, not less.

1) Boston .929
2) Wpg .924
3) Avs .922
4) Vegas .920
5) Islaes .918

The bottom kind of falls out after that though.

Don't read too much into it, but the other day I popped into a Harvey's and heard Dubas order a grilled chicken sandwich

Its' still relatively early...these numbers change quickly.

I think those Href team stats include empty net goals tbh.
