The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

Why would he leave? To be paid less on a team with no Austin and Mitch? Plus move further from the Soo?

He could go back and work for the Soo...I'm sure they'd find a role for him.

Seriously, I don't get why they haven't extended him yet other than it's already a done deal and they're waiting on some prescribed timing thing. Tying it to "winning in the playoffs" is such a random thing to tie a GMs future to, given injuries, hot/cold streaks, etc that are outside of his control. He's got a good eye for young talent, solid (looking) drafting record, and a more-good-than-bad trade record (all GMs have trades they want back). The team is succeeding with two superstar players, something Edmonton is showing that's not always a given. And the team has sustained regular season success.

Sign him. He's earned it.

Holding out also means that Shanahan should have a shortlist of replacements ready (though he should probably have that anyway, just smart).

Bad News: Holowell called up on emergency basis

Good News: Lilly still lining up on his normal pairing in practice this morning, so might still be a go, and probably isn't seriously injured

I love how we've brought back Brodie only onto the 3rd pairing and nobody cares because the other two pairings have been so good.

In the 3gms Brodie was back before Lilly left early last game:
