The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

Looking at the new roster, it seems Kerf and ZAR are likely casualties. Have to believe Dubie wants to convert these superfluous UFAs into something he can use both now and later.

And looking at the D...it would be a damn sneaky move to trade off Holl instead of Sandin. I like Holl, I do, but I feel like McCabe coming in maybe makes Holl the expendable one, and not Sandin.

Rielly Lilly
McCabe Brodie
Gio Sandin
Timmins

Feels lighter (both good and bad), and while I'm a little hesitant to move the heavier playing Holl, I'm not super enamored with him this year, to be honest. Feel like he holds onto the puck just a bit longer than he always has to, and then gets himself and us caught in the zone chasing it around. Plus he's gone next year anyway, so wouldn't it be better to keep Sandin, even if the tradeoff might make us a bit worse defensively, which maybe McCabe's addition cancels out because he should be a good bit better than Holl. I'm leaning this way. Really don't like the idea of losing the Sandman.

Frankie corrado of all people proposed a d line up that I thought was a tad interesting.

Reilly McCabe. (Maybe adds some toughness and stability to Reilly

Gio and Brodie. (Bring back that beauty combo).

Sandin Lilly

Holl 7 or traded, schenn in deal for scraps or part of a deal with kerfoot, Timmins, Benn

That would actually be very good.

LOL

"Fact is, Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, at $11 million apiece, are virtually untradeable"

And 2 of his last 5 articles are about trading both for 32 year-old 11.5 per cap hit, Erik Karlsson.
At least be consistent with the message...

I'm so glad the Habs had this foolish Julian Brisebois guy as their Asst GM and let him walk away, so they could eventually hire Marc Bergevin

Yeah, this is a pretty good explanation of the thought process. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of unhappy people that we traded the picks if we're out in the first round again, and fair enough, but I kinda think you have to push hard while you're a consistent ~110pt team and hope for some fortune. The idea was clearly to prioritize our prospects who were closer to being cheap depth than picks who are years and years away.

Btw is this proof that GM's use basic statistics and models to calculate risk-reward on making particular trades? Does this settle the printout debate once and for all?!?!?!?

Id try to find a way to land JVR. He’s deeply flawed but adding some scoring on the left side would be nice.
I also think engvall is the most likely cut.
