The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

i'll never forget the one time I went to England and ordered an all-day breakfast after a night flight. the menu described a typical breakfast except it came with a "fried slice". I was like what the fuck is that?

it was literally a plain slice of toast. Deep fried.

A guy a few seats down from leafman and me at the wild game had an unhealthy hate for engvall. Every time he came in and out of the aisle he talked about how bad he thought engvall is. That dude is jo’Ing today for sure.

That's nuts too.

Engvall is a big, soft boring winger who does lots of good defensive things, skates the puck through the neutral zone well and occasionally sling shots a 30 foot wrister in the net.

The only reason to hate him is because you think that 6'5 needs to equal physical. The only reason to love him is that you secretly want to have man sex with him and he's beautiful.

Reasonably convinced if you hate him you are just in denial you want to have bottom only man sex with him

I'd buy that. The only reason for him to evoke powerful emotions in anyone is because you're DTF and he is, as mentioned, beautiful.

I’m not sure how to feel about the sandin trade but he was the odd man out in the top six and they have probably avoided a headache down the stretch if he’s in the press box.

I like what they’re doing in the bottom six. The bottom guys have been a collective wet blanket in the playoffs every year. Having a few guys who bring energy and throw their weight Around (and who frankly don’t seem to be much of a step down offensively, if at all) is worth a shot.

I'm holding off on evaluating because it won't be a great one unless they upgrade on Kerfoot. So I'll just wait till they do that.

Well they needed to free up some $

im ok with engvall being the casualty - lafferty has matched his offence this year - but Schenn is schitt

He's a small LHD who hasn't exactly blown the doors off with any opportunity he's been given but was already getting shitty about not being given a bigger role on a team trying to win the whole thing.

He's fine, and I don't say any of this to shit on him, he'll probably end up as a solid enough NHL defender but if he wasn't happy with a 3rd pairing role now, but isn't better than any of the left hand shot defenders we have ahead of him, he's not going to be happy moving forward here.

One of the easiest player types to replace in the NHL is a good but not elite left handed puck moving defender that can't handle defensive heavies.

Now, he's wrecked shitty competition so far and he's young so maybe he turns into something better than I project him as. Maybe the skating takes a jump forward and there's another gear or two there. But I don't know if he would have been patient enough to want to stick around for us to see it develop here, so whatev.

Leaf fans forget the reality of playoff hockey because we lose in the first round every year. But the goal is to play extremely competitive, physical games every 2nd night for two freakin' months. You need a 7-8 and probably even 9 d-man in case of injuries. You would much prefer Jordie Benn to be the 9 or 10 guy.
