The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

Including that maybe he’s actually been good somehow this season?

Weren’t you the one clamoring for Schenn the last few weeks, and now you’re dumping oh him?? 😂
I am not dumping on him... I like him.

I said the first part because everyone has stats that show he's shit... and then when the hits number comes out, it shows he's chasing the play... and now this one.. tied for 25th 5 v 5 and it shows how good Hughes is.

Gimme a break.

Tampa used him exactly as we should... fill in, play steady, hit and wear down Tampa's forwards. Simple

Why do they need a goalie? Top 10 save percentage in the league and they have 2 guys that can give them quality starts. Why are you even considering adding a 3rd? For what purpose? There is no one available that's any more of a sure thing than those 2.
i mean there has to be a 3rd goalie contingency plan in case of injury, so it's possible they do bring one in, but i think Woll's been good enough this year that he can be that guy.

Which is why trend, performance over extended periods, etc is so important in analyzing them.

There's a decade worth of stats showing schenn to be a play chasing plug #6-7 defender. There's 3 months of counting stats showing him as a provider of offence from the blueline.
I agree with this, but I also think when it comes to deadline deals going into a playoffs it's OK to roll the dice sometimes for a player on a heater.

That's fair, but when said player is your 8th best defender and well into his 30's you probably shouldn't be playing him over better players, heater or no.

That's really where I'm at personally with the Schenn move. If the idea is "we could really use a veteran that can PK and hit things sitting in the pressbox just in case Brodie, Gio or Holl go down who can play 11 minutes of uninspiring but angry hockey a night against butter soft competition" then yeah, fine, I agree with that. If the idea though is "you know guys....our blueline would look way better if you swapped out Holl or Liljegren with a guy who hits things and is terrible", then they can all get fucked and deserve another 1st round exit.

We're all fooling ourselves if we don't think Schenn is Rielly's regular partner moving forward.

Keefe is looking at Schenn and thinking... "WOW! I just got an upgraded Boosh to play with my defensively challenged stud offensive D! No brainer!"

And Dubas is looking at Keefe asking "how much do like working here?"

It's not even a question in my mind. Keefe will not be able to resist. Even if Schenn doesn't get the rest of the regular season games, you know he is Keefe's safety net for Mo. Holl is either getting traded or he's the #7.

I got the feeling from those behind the scenes episodes and their interactions that Dubie isn't enamored with Keefe's ways.

Yeah, I can't trust they got Schenn to just keep him on the sidelines. I'm shocked by his numbers though, and so I don't know if they're justified in thinking he could just step in for Holl - and do better, because otherwise what the fuck did they get him for?
