I don’t mind sitting a guy who has only hit 50gp in a season once and whose BFFs were just dealt and followed it up with the game he had vs the oilers for a game. But stapling this guy to the bench would be ludicrous.
 
It didn't sound like Keefe planned on stapling him when he spoke. Probably gonna be a rotation with Schenn, Gus, Holl, and Liljegren as the guys coming in and out. For the playoffs I think it's obvious who will be in of the new guys but I'm not convinced it won't be Holl coming out and not Liljegren.

If we're being really fair, Sandin is maybe even better than Rielly right now. Rielly has had a shit year. But we ditched the Sandman for a chance at some player who maybe will top out as a third liner or something 3-5 years from now. With no pressure to sell him off, and with a need for a good young puck moving dman in our standby reserve corps of 5 dmen.

That was my take and I don't remember anyone echoing my views on the subject back then!

More specifically, you don't spend that package (and unprotected) when you don't have one high end center in the fold. Dumb move that was the primary factor in wasting that entire several year period.
 
I genuinely don't get how anyone can't love Engvall. I really don't.

No one is trying to pass him off as a first liner. As a third liner, who is consistent, can control play, be excellent defensively, chip in 15+ goals - like what else do we want? Fucking Kampf? ZAR?
