The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

That's the common misunderstanding about Rielly. He doesn't need a babysitter, nor has he played his best hockey when paired with one.

He needs sheltering from defence heavy situations against high level offensive competition. But giving Luke Schenn those same offensive situations is nutty. He's probably not even better defensively than Lilly is at all, nevermind being enough better to make it worthwhile going that way.

Then of course, Lilly is our 2nd best offensive defender behind Rielly and would also provide significant AF value in those same situations and it's kind of a no brainer. McCabe-Brodie are a good heavy lifting pair and Gio-Whoever is a great swiss army knife pair.

Schenn should be an injury fill in really, or if you absolutely insist, a physicality injection taking over for Holl.

Just because....here's a fun fact.

Kerfoot has 3 5v5 goals this season, and 2 of them came in a 7-0 laugher against the 3rd worst team in the league.

That's 2 fewer than ZAR has. 1 less than Holmberg in like 1/3rd the minutes, 1 less than Lilly.

he never shoots

he never shoots

What if I told you that's not it...that he's 6th on the team in shots and only 20 behind Bunting? Jarnkrok (who is basically diet coke, if diet coke was a person who played hockey professionally) has double the amount of goals on 18 fewer shots.

We might actually be better off if he actually didn't shoot.

ok let me rephrase, he never shoots in scoring positions

So you are saying he is due?

I think this place sells the yarn cock a little
Short. He plays with motor and aside from the spell with ZAR and ze German where they got 85% dzone start usage, has been competent everywhere he has played - including a productive few weeks when he got to play with Marner and willy.

playoff results haven’t been there for him but I think he will be useful.

he does whatever they seem to think foot fetish does well, but without the turnovers.

yeah I've been mostly okay with the Krok. able to keep up with JT/Mitchie, seems to have a decent shot and good finish around the net (at a minimum, a helluva lot better than KerfKampVall). obviously not a guy you want on your first line, but no issues as a third liner and can fill in on the second line.

of course, the playoff track record does stand out. hopefully that changes course this year.

Yeah, Yarncock has been fine and is a pretty solid step up from Kerfoot.

Kind of underlines how bad of a spend Kerfoot is at 3.5

I think Edna knows more about hockey than Carlo. He said at noon he wanted Schenn top 4 every game. Schenn played 10:52 and then 9:14 per game with Tampa and only played 19 games combined in the 2 playoff runs And this yahoo actually said his experience with Tampa should put him in the top 4.

He’s been scoring some dirty goals too. It would give me some confidence if he didn’t also historically suck in the playoffs.

Yeah, I don't expect a ton from offensive depth forwards. But they should be able to shoot the puck well enough to be dangerous from the slot, and they shouldn't be afraid of the front of the net either. Guys like Kerfoot who only ever score on the rush are kind of useless in tight games against good teams.
