The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

Actually the food portion of FI is treacherous— it tried very hard to get me off stews, fries and pork belly

These media jocks literally get paid to solve hypothetical problems. They will get tarred as being lazy cheerleaders if they say “this team is elite, almost no weaknesses, there’s a reason Vegas gives them pretty good odds to win it all. So my advice is to relax, spend more time talking to your family, and simply tune in at puck drop to enjoy one of the most talented squads in franchise history”
Sports without the hearsay, chatter, and general buzz is kinda dull tbh. I enjoy it critiquing the critics. It's all part of the experience for me.

Dunno man. He played on a torn up knee because we were chasing 8th and made it worse to the point of needing microfracture surgery because the cartilage damage was that severe.

He may have been injury prone/reckless but we were more than happy to push him to the breaking point

Ok, so maybe you can pin one of his knees on the Leaf organization.

But he was Lupul-esque when it came to all the different body parts he injured while playing for us and the sheer amount of time it caused him to miss.

Keep going. Not trying to stop you at all. I find it grossly repetitive and mind numbing. I pay to see great players play, not to listen to ex jocks pretend they know something

Thank you. It's all entertainment for me. The issue is when you take these things too seriously. Laughing about it on forumice brings great joy to my life.

And this is an easy take to have when you live in a different city from your club and 3/4 of your fan base and media does all their craziness in a minority language that you never have to deal with unless to actively look for it.

I mean, the biggest sacrifice you have to make is to give up your subscription to le journal

I don’t think so. I don’t even pay attention to the tv intermission pundits or half time analysts. There’s too much content in 2022 (across a broad range of categories) for me to dig super deep into a pile of sports trash.

And there’s lots of great stuff; most of it cost a few bucks a month in subscription or substacks

In game and intermission analysis from someone who can break down a play or multiple plays that align with the nerdies is great just because its so rare.

I enjoy listening to Bieksa, Johnson, and Ferraro.

Johnson is my fave. I try to listen to him if he's avail

Bieksa is kind of hit and miss for me -- still miles ahead of most

Bieksa still has some meathead tendencies and biases, but he's pretty good, somewhat entertaining and better than most. O'Neill is similar, though he trends more towards meathead, but makes up for it by being entertaining and a Leaf homer.

Johnson is definitely the best though

I think Bieksa is great. Pretty funny, adds personality. O'Neill is terrible and unwatchable. Johnson is very knowledgeable, but is interestingly becoming more spicy on broadcasts, I find, starting to talk shit about certain players (Kerf in the last one).

He sure is playing like it, but it’s uncommon to see them criticizing someone during the broadcast. Seems like it’s always been fair game to note mistakes on a play, but not to criticize a player generally. Johnson has been coloring outside the lines lately.
