The Fucking Offseason Thread - Why bother waiting?

I know he's good, but he's older, more injury prone, likely losing a step or two soon.

I would gamble on our stable of young D (Dermott, Sandin, Lilly) and use that Muzz money for more firepower.
 
We'd get a minimum of a 1st and prospect, and that $5M+ could go towards comfortably landing a more expensive forward. And then we're still left with:

Rielly Brodie
Dermott Holl
Sandin Lilly/Bogo

Young but I'm comfy with it, and there's room for surprise if Sandin and Lilly are more ready than anticipated.

It spares us from more Simmonds, Thornton, Vesey time up front, which is the main thing that killed us.

And adding another couple of young pieces via the Muzz return would be nice. It feels like a Suzuki/Max type trade where we land the younger package.

Lacks in star power up front, but all 3 lines are competent offensively and there's probably a really nice PP1 in there to be found as well. The 2nd and 3rd lines are both shut down type lines that would be hard to score against.

Dougie & Suter would turn this into a very good top 4. Driedger might be a stud...we'll see

That team could win the west.....ffs

and it would have a lot of space left...5+ million anyway.

Gourde and Danault would be really hard to score against.

Muzzin probably isn't worth much more today than he's worth 365 days from now.
 
Unless his next injury is a bad one. Or he loses enough speed to become a liability out there.

As for Rielly, you kinda gotta give him what he reasonably wants.
 
I don't think Seattle should be allowed to pick anyone from the Leafs. Too many takes!! Cut their losses and move on.
 
I was gonna go zapruder on the new cut just because it could have easily been dubbed using that photog's arm blocking his face.

But at the very end you can clearly see and hear him say "oops I said Jaren".
