The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

he had 26 career games though. how much was he going to land? Bunting has panned out for the Leafs but it's very easy to envision realities where it didn't.

I think Bunting was fortunate to get term in that context, honestly..maybe that's why the cap is a bit lower as well. a 1 year deal for a guy like that seems more logical.

but good for the Leafs. and wherever he goes Bunting appears set for a solid raise next offseason.

Yeah, the sample size was really small that's fair. I just figured with how much GMs like to wax poetically about intangibles, here's a guy available for peanuts who plays a chippy, competitive game, draws penalties, had ridiculous nerdies, scores goals... seems like the most obvious value signing any team could make. Edmonton, where were you at?

This is coming up more lately.

Like the player hate the expiring deal where he likely walks in the offseason.

I don’t really see the need to make a big add on defense.

I’d also prefer that they not spend big on any more pure rentals this year. And it should probably go without saying we should have no interest whatsoever in signing Klingberg long-term.

As much as I'd love a top six forward added to make up for the Ritchie fuckup... I think added a d might be more of a "need" or at least a "nice to have." But they could use more of a stopper and I'm pretty sure Klingberg is not that. D has been the one part of their game that hasn't been elite.

Could be a case of giving Mo top 4 minutes will make it impossible to be an elite defensive team. But you get way more out of your offense that the trade-off is probably fine. Hard to say.

actually what they need on defence is more skill, if anything.

but ahead of that is another good scorer from somewhere. this group needs the insurance.

Sure if he has skill that's fine but you can't have two Rielly's in the top 4. I don't think you can handle the defensive hit your team would take. Guy has gotta be a solid all-around guy as well. I'm not sure if Klingberg can be that guy but I haven't looked into him much.

I really don't want to move any of knies, niemela, amirov or robertson or the 1st round pick this year in a deal.... need to try and have some prospect flow to supplement the roster moving forward.

I know a bunch of teams are looking at Chycryn and that they may be asking for a lot, but I think Muzzin is struggling out there and is on the wrong side of 30....

I wonder what it would take to get Chycryn and Crouse from Arizona... and yes, I would give up Muzzin, Mikyhyev and see if they would take Ritchie plus to see get those two.

Kind of funny that our even strength defense has actually been the strongest part of our recent play.
