The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

honestly I am stoked to see what Raz-Timmy can do in legit minutes/comp. great timing for our shutdown pair to be out.

Nah. Time for Sandin-Liljegren to go from silly dominant bottom pair to true quality 2nd pair.

That's a tough ask, right into the deep end with no veteran security blanky.

What would be a decent return from Edmonton if we offered them Mrazek and then have a side deal for a different back up.

Is there anyone on the Oil that could be had with a pick for Mrazek?

RD Evan Bouchard
LW Foegele longer term.
Shore??

I don't know, but if we could get rid of the Mrazek contract and then get some depth and use another pick for another capable back up

I dunno, would you trade Sandin for a backup?

The Leafs are generally pretty patient, and while Mrazek has been bad, I don't see them trading for an replacement and paying a premium to unload him. He has a strong enough track record to be patient with.

I'm hoping for Edmonton to be desperate for a goalie with a bit of a rep as a 1A 1B type of player.

he has also played what, 5 games? sample size.

Yeah, I'd do that.

Gives us a Mulligan on our goalie move (especially now that we have a better read on Jack being a legit 1A) with some cheap veterans hitting the market this summer and Foegele is fine as a 3rd line LW that would be easy enough to move if necessary.

Nahh, Mrazek sux. And he's made out of porcelin. If an opportunity presented itself for us to get out of that contract, I'd jump on it.

Though I wouldn't love picking up an additional two-year commitment on Foegele, and I wouldn't trust Koskinen even just as a backup for the rest of this season, I don't know that I'd give the thumbs up to that particular trade idea.

it's funny, Leaf fans gave Garrett freakin Sparks more run than Mrazek and I have no idea why...

the dude has played what, like 5 games for us? and people want him turfed on that basis? recognizing his season has been interrupted repeatedly by injury and goaltending is fucking voodoo anyways?

we are a Jack groin pull away from Pete being the only thing stopped your boy Hutch from getting a run of games... and I sure as shit would rather Mrazek than Koskinen too.

I still think Mrazek could give us an average-ish SV% which is what I said before the season. We'll find out soon I guess because we gotta cram in all these games at some point.

I actually don’t think mrazek is bad and I agree he’s a nice luxury if or when Jack stumbles. But having between 7.5 and 8.5 tied up in goaltending next year is not viable.

To be fair, I'm not judging him on his handful of games as a Leaf, though obviously that hasn't raised my opinion of him.

I hated this signing from the start based on the price we paid and Mrazek's body of work over the last several years, and I'm not really inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt just because Dubas decided to sign him.

Jack was a home-run, but Dubas still has a very mixed track record when it comes to goaltending.

Eh, I think the difference between Koskinen and normal Pete isn't massive and the ability to take that cap space into the summer where there is a massive bag of goalies in that tier available, would be really nice.

Holtby, Fleury, Halak, Jones, Forsberg, Francouz, DeSmith are all available and most a pretty good bet to give us the .905-.910 that we were hoping for from Pete, for a lot cheaper. Kallgren is also looking more and more legit an option the deeper we get into the season.
