honestly, as much as I'd like to see this board melt down over a deadline pickup, I don't Benny on the Leafs
why not? you should want to see the Leafs waste assets on players that don't address their true needs

I still remember when zeke and ME were both all “no way Burke signs komisarek”.
Is blaming Shanahan just a copout for the doob? Assuming they are actually interested, of course.
It's a fair hypothesis but Kyle is very second guessy and has admitted that he has modified his way of thinking over the years. It's possible he got poisoned by the old boys club to some regard. It is. he's the GM. but.. guys like Foligno and Chiarot are not only not really Dubas guys, they're the opposite of what he typically tries to draft or acquire. I found myself wondering if Shanahan is not really allowing Dubes complete autonomy.
he did it with Mimsi
all it takes is a phone call from Shanahan
And had the most non existent acquisition cost. It was a perfectly reasonable gambleNah, Mimsy had surprisingly solid analytics.

I'd be stunned if Mimsy isn't moved at the deadline as a favor for the super high price you are paying for whatever ( Hagel, De Haan, Chariot)It was probably a bad idea from the onset tbh but I see what Kyle was going for on the macro. We needed two top 6 support wingers and some combination of Mimsy, Bunting, Kase, Hosang, Robertson, Kerfoot, & Mikky were going to have to do. The more randos in the mix, the higher the chance of finding success.
That 2nd year is a bit of a kick in the dick though.
Fake newsNah I'm pretty sure I guaranteed we were signing Komi (and drafting schenn) like a year in advance.
Burke would absolutely trade for chiarot.
Foligno was all about the "grit, intangibles" b.s. Kyle and company fell for it.
Eh Foligno was tangibly a tough usage excellent defensive first line minute matchup line forward for an top defensive team for years.
