The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

I still remember when zeke and ME were both all “no way Burke signs komisarek”.

Nah I'm pretty sure I guaranteed we were signing Komi (and drafting schenn) like a year in advance.

Burke would absolutely trade for chiarot.

Is blaming Shanahan just a copout for the doob? Assuming they are actually interested, of course.

It would be nice to have a dude to blame in my life for every mistake or dumb decision I make. Where do I sign up for one of them?

Chiarot is a goal scoring machine -- his 5 would lead the Leafs D (tied with Reilly)

It is. he's the GM. but.. guys like Foligno and Chiarot are not only not really Dubas guys, they're the opposite of what he typically tries to draft or acquire. I found myself wondering if Shanahan is not really allowing Dubes complete autonomy.

It's a fair hypothesis but Kyle is very second guessy and has admitted that he has modified his way of thinking over the years. It's possible he got poisoned by the old boys club to some regard.

But yes, Shanny calling the shots is a fair hypothesis too. We'll just never know for sure so idk if it's fair to just chalk up all Kyle mistakes to Shanny without knowing for sure.

And had the most non existent acquisition cost. It was a perfectly reasonable gamble

It was probably a bad idea from the onset tbh but I see what Kyle was going for on the macro. We needed two top 6 support wingers and some combination of Mimsy, Bunting, Kase, Hosang, Robertson, Kerfoot, & Mikky were going to have to do. The more randos in the mix, the higher the chance of finding success.

That 2nd year is a bit of a kick in the dick though.

I'd be stunned if Mimsy isn't moved at the deadline as a favor for the super high price you are paying for whatever ( Hagel, De Haan, Chariot)

Woulda been a nice fit if he was who they thought he was. But I think they could have used a scorer all-around dude just as much. In hindsight, not sure it was necessary to get a one dimensional dude past his prime, ESPECIALLY for that price. But I understood it at the time and still understand WHY they did it today.
