The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

This is true. He mentioned it because he is target of Oil Change but apparently they are not his preferred destination and a few other teams are in on him, including the Leafs

It was on air so I cant even say it was for clicks

I've got a scenario....

MAF + Patrick Kane, both at 50% retention for Pete and whatever the fuck else it costs within reason.

Kane is 33, 1 more year left on his deal after this...he's never going to be more valuable than he is right now and Chicago is nowhere close to being competitive. Makes that 2nd line Kane-Tavares-Nylander and Kane has that big playoff swinging dick energy that these guys need to absorb.

MAF and Kane both at 50%

for

Mrazek, 1st, Robertson, Holl, Roni Hirvonen and Niemela

Mrazek can be the goalie when MAF walks so he’s actually a pick up. Not sure who’d be better that you’d get in UFA.

What’s the other “trash salary”? Holl? Hardly.

I want to see which goalie you sign next year.

And Holl and his $2m salary for 1.5 years is pretty damn good and marketable as a flip at this or the next deadline.

In any event, your proposal is perfectly reasonable if Dubas is drunk.

It doesn't matter what goalie we sign next year. We are going to be terrible. Just because we have a spot for Mrazek doesn't mean his value isn't a negative . Same with Holl, he offers nothing of real value to us but to get yhd right return we'd take him. Want to make yhe deal without those guys involved? Fine by me, they are offsetting salary filler do you can keep Kane in 23

It's not cheating! It's a loophole that allows a particular team to ice a roster in the important playoffs that would not be allowed to be iced in the meaningless regular season. So all the work Team A does to remain cap compliant and have the perfect cap allocation goes by the wayside when Team B does the same but then gets a free 20 million dollars to add to the roster for the playoffs. That's a huge competitive advantage for Team B all because a dude got injured and they aren't gonna "rush" him back. That's funny to me!

Np about the churning thing. I recently got back into it. It's fun AND easy.
Help please.

yeah okay I'm fully erect

On one hand I'm like... I want a big dick offense + defense guy on that line... on the other hand I need to shut the fuck up and accept that this is Patrick Kane we're talking about.

For that reason, I'm in.

Some Elliotte Friedman notes:

  1. Even though Toronto put Jake Muzzin on long-term injury, I think the Maple Leafs still have to get a handle on his situation. We know now the danger of cumulative concussions, and the bruising defender suffered a previous one on Jan. 15. Guessing recovery timelines is silly. They know he’s out until at least mid-March, and can see where everything stands before the deadline. They’ll do their legwork in the meantime.
While I do think JT Miller is perfect for them — and they have talked to Vancouver — I don’t think the Maple Leafs feel that is their number one priority. They aren’t finished trying to tinker with their blue line, and, at the very least, must be considering goaltending options. They had conversations with Dallas about John Klingberg, and may revisit after adding some edge they desired in Ilya Lyubushkin. By my math, they could have $7M in cap room, although a pre-playoff return for Muzzin complicates that.

  1. Toronto’s made it clear they desire to hold Matthew Knies and Topi Niemela — especially for rentals or shorter-term options. Nick Robertson for a rental seems unlikely. I suspect that, after the Olympics, Nick Abruzzese moved towards this group, as well. They don’t have a ton of draft picks, but feel very good about their prospects.

Abruzzese as an untouchable would be hilariously dumb but that's why Elliotte is not the GM!
