I can't imagine spezza gets more than 3-4 games despite the in person hearing. Would be a bit ridiculous if he gets 5+. Even 4 is a bit aggressive.
 
If attempted career ender is 2 games it's only fair that attempted murder gets 3. I'll allow 4 max. Only because it was a valiant effort at brutal murder.
 
I hope Spezza goes off in the hearing.

I think he may get off easy a bit because he's Spezza and not Pionkza or some other fuckface with a history of shit.

you are forgetting the 3 game Leaf surcharge.

somewhat mitigated by the 'old vets' discount. and all the accrued non-Leafs years Spezz has.

but also the retaliatory add 2 game surcharge likely applies.

The thing that sucks is that if we want Matthews to fight back when players are doing this shit to him, it definitely IS going to result in at least offsetting penalties and teams are going to take that trade all day long.

Better solution is to just light Brad Meier's house on fire as a "deterrent" to piss poor officiating.
 
Am I the only one who sees the hit as 95% of the contact being hip to shoulder? Most dangerous part of the hit is the skate coming through as he is down.
