jesus fuck, some people are trying to spin this like he sexually assaulted her.

People are freaking out a bit about a group of drunk men trying to get into the car of a lone woman at 2am.

The more I think about it, man, drunk or not he's gotta know better than that.
 
So here's my question, and I get that it's not very 2019 of me....

But why does her gender matter? Auston, by his (and her ) account jiggled the handle to play a prank on a security guard's car at 2 AM while intoxicated. He's rightly being charged for disorderly conduct. There was no sexual component to what was done here, her gender just shouldn't matter.
 
On one hand I get the fact that this is just a bunch of drunk buddies playing what probably seemed to them like a pretty harmless joke on a security guard (no thought toward gender). I mean, putting up with a bit of shit is kind of a job requirement for security guards.

On the other hand, it's a group of dudes trying to get into the car of a lone female at 2am. And that's all anyone is going to see. And she may have been legit frightened, which sucks. And he appears to have made it worse after he knew she wasn't happy about it.

Of course, we only have one side of the story right now. But in 2019, this is gonna be a bit of a shit storm. Fuck.

What's so hilarious about a guy pulling his pants off and trying to get into a car of an unknown woman? Sorry, but there's nothing humorous about it. We all make foolish/moronic choices (myself included), he needs to take his lumps, grow up and move on.

Put yourself in her shoes- Imagine being a woman and a bunch of men (one of which was half naked) trying to get in your car, how would you feel? Bottom line is she didn't know these guys from adam and she had every reason to fear for her safety. I'm not saying Matthews was intending to rape her, but to a stranger it would come off that way, drunk or not, he should have known better. I've said this before, we have all done assassine things (me plenty), but, he needs to take his lumps here (fine, apology, criticism),grow up, and learn not to repeat the mistakes he made.
 
The response here to Matthews' actions is disturbing, especially in 2019. Is there no empathy for the victim? Matthews intentionally made her feel unsafe and then did something bordering on sexual harassment. To dismiss his behaviour as "nothing" after the victim was shaken enough to file a police report is shameful. I seriously think the captaincy should be given to Tavares or Rielly after this incident.
