The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

that they made him an offer that week?….totally plausible, particularly with the purported jump in $$…(although I don’t think we have well reported numbers on that?)
They'd never release the numbers but I would file charges. Too much smoke. For me its a win win, if I'm wrong at least Dubas got to sweat a little more.

Yeah, I can't either. I think the simplest explanation is that no one is completely full of shit and that Kyle simply thought his bargaining position was stronger than it turned out to be. His "you're not going to see me somewhere else next week" was an emotional throwaway statement in the middle of a sincere discussion about how difficult the year honestly was on his family (for whatever reasons) that in light of getting fired (which I'm going to suggest was an outcome he didn't at all expect, knowing as he did that Shanny and the board wanted him back), he's now willing to walk back because multi million dollar paycheques aren't normal.

Basically, he was sincere in what he said

1000% agree.

I betcha Leafs have asked to speak with Nill.
Interesting about Armstrong...usually you would hear a rebuttal of "No" from him or someone close to him. Crickets.

That's not my point though. Honestly, you don't think there's enough there to investigate?

If the contract turns out to be less than the one he had on the table in Toronto, no.

The conspiracy theory is predicated on the much smaller company that owns the much poorer team offering significantly more money than MLSE did. I get where the theory comes from given the 11th hour demand for more money, but that's still explainable without their being a 3rd party involved. Could easily have been Dubas & his agent doing a heavy misread on MLSE's level of willingness to bring him back.

I won’t deny the smoke there, lines up very well…..too far for me to go (especially believing Dubas had an offer at the presser).

but the purported increase in ask, the cancelling of their very close hire, then Dubas interviewing….those dominos line up well for you,

Shanny should call Nill and say hey Jim, too bad about the WCF loss, yeah hey just saying should anything happen I'm around.

It's really not if presented as a backup "should something happen" plan.

hockeylover hit me with that Nill idea, before I’d heard it anywhere else and I absolutely love it.

feels super plausible, especially with them only giving him a piss-ant one year extension, their successes together, all of it fits great.

Tulsky or Nill, and I could eventually stomach losing Dubas.

It's an almost perfect fit and I only day almost because nothing is ever really perfect.

what's your excuse?
I don't need one. I think society is fucked. People are sheep and too meek to just fucking say what's on their mind so that breeds gossip, innuendo, rumor etc so fuck everyone that does that and I'll be with the butterflies.
