The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

This is the signature move I see as well

I'd like to see it, but I struggle to see the assets without sending Willy, which would be stupid.

The other ugly side of that equation is who the target would be. It's easy to say that you're trying to get a top defender, but hard to actually dislodge one of the 10 real impact guys. Basically, it's easier to trade for Dion Phaneuf than Chris Pronger.

Who is a real needle mover, that is also remotely available? The only needle movers I see on non playoff teams from this year are Roman Josi (more of a Morgan Rielly type tbh, Dahlin, Karlsson, Quinn Hughes, maybe a healthy John Carlson, Letang, Seider maybe, Chabot maybe.

This is where that whole "we're smarter than everyone else" would have come in handy over the last few years when guys like Toews & Siegenthaler changed hands for dirt cheap. Because though it would be nice to drop an elite #1 into this lineup, we're really only looking for half of one. We have the other half wearing #44 already.

Hanafin only has a year left, will he resign in Calgary? Severson is a UFA and seems to be sneaking under the radar.

there will be opportunities.

Done have holed on D that need to be filled? Rielly-brodie-mccabe-lilly-gio-timmins

Solid top 6 and if you get schenn at close to league min then you are set

Wasn’t directing that comment specifically at you. But if you think the Coleman signing was in any way a good move for Calgary, I think that’s fucking nuts.

Eh, if your need is an elite shutdown line winger who chips in 2nd line 5v5 offensive numbers in 3rd line minutes, there are much worse ways to spend that cap hit. The term is excessive, but it always is on good players.

I would, a million times out of a million replace Kerfoot and Jarnkrok with Coleman and a kid from our system on league minimum for the same cap.

If the point you’re making is that this one particular example of a dumb Treliving move isn’t as bad as the combination of a couple examples of bad Dubas moves…ok I guess?

“None of the above” is still very much the preferred option here though.

Treliving was clearly hired because he has grown children. The old boy's club has some advantages.
