The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

Luke, you played so damn well in the playoffs that we're going to give you the same contract as the legendary Mark Giordano!!!!!

Legit had a friend arguing last night that since Schenn is so much better than Gio, we obviously have to pay him more. And that a 3 year deal at $1.8M would be fine.

I'm willing to ride with his regular season numbers (1.17ppg) as a better indicator of upside. That's good, but just good. More in the 3C range than the 2C range so far.
I’m happy with a good 3C, that’s all I was hoping for. The talk of him being not even a 4th liner is what surprised me.

reaches and gambles are fine with later picks, which likely don't pan out anyway

reaches and gambles suck when it's your top pick
The likelihood of drafting a stud at 28 is closer to 0 than most believe.

The likelihood of drafting a stud in the mid-late 2nd round where he was projected to be taken isn't all that different than it is at 28.

I'm upset. I wish they were able to trade down if they really loved the guy. But it's not something I'm gonna spend much energy throwing a bitch fit over. That'll be reserved for what Tre does on July 1st most likely #PessimisticPrestoHasReturned

Yeah but what about taking one of those guys who several projected to go at around 15 instead. Isn’t that better for the odds than taking a guy that was supposed to go 60 or whatever?

likelihood for who though?

I'm sure if this were your average team that can actually produce talent past the first round I'd agree

but this is the Leafs.

we're lucky if we get the 1st rounder right.

I think in general as fans we put way to much credibility on the people doing these projections.

A strong amount of front offices should have more credibility than these lists made by guys not employed in the league.
