A lot riding on his 42 regular season games from this year. What makes it hard to compare to many goalies is that an arbitrator can only award a 1yr deal for him whereas most comparables have UFA years bought out in their contracts.
 
Leafs filed at $2.4, Sammy at $4.9. Halfway point would be $3.65, but then again the halfway point doesn't actually mean anything.

$3.4m is the redline for us. We can fit that in with the only sacrifice being Lafferty, which isn't really a sacrifice. Anything over that and then we're forced into moving a guy like Timmins.

Given that the arbitrator can only award 1yr i don't see how he can come in anywhere near Sammy's ask, and i do think the leafs low bid is probably closer to his value, but it would end up somewhere in the middle at that's gonna be a bit iffy.

it would be a bit annoying if the Reaves contract, with the extra $475k over league minimum, comes back to bite us immediately.
 
Also something to be said about the team he is playing on... but my guess is that doesnt factor in at all

From a few pages back. $3.4+ would be extremely unlikely, and I'd bet on something close to the Ullmark deal.

It’s actually a great case for the Leafs because the most favourable comps for them are Ullmark and Helly, two elite vezina winners. Don’t have to shit on Sammy at all.
